Over a century and a half after the original Chartist movement in the UK, a group of leading lefts and trade union leaders have started a campaign to gain a million signatures on a new charter. John McDonnell sets out some of the arguments in this article. (http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/mar/09/protest-recession)

The new charter, which it’s hoped well over a million will sign, contains a set of basic demands to ensure the working class aren’t the ones who get royally shafted by the recession.

Would you sign it? And is there any actual point to it at all or is it just a gimmick which will hinder others trying to offer something different from the neo-liberalist policies the main parties are all tied to?

Think of it the other way round.
You don't lose jobs in the bad times, you gain them in the good.
Now be thankful for the work we capitalists allow you and get back to doing it.

Enjoy the rest when you are at home waiting for someone to help you out.

I agree with their aims, so I tried to sign it, but then got a system error :( There's a lesson in that - I'm trying to correct an error in the system by signing that and I get a system error??? :suspect:

So you think that the "correct" state of affairs is to have millions forced to live off the state and we should be grateful for it? :loopy:

Why do you believe the taxpayers should foot the bill during the bad times instead of those who benefit most during the good times - the capitalists? Do you actually LIKE paying lots of tax
