Can anyone give me some decent advice on a good printer/scanner for a budding graphic designer? I'm on a budget of around £100.

Laser or Inkjet??? Nice one Paul Bloomdido 27-06-2005, 20:41 Samsung laser for 63 quid at a place near me and spend the other 37 quid on a colour inkjet printer or spend the whole lot on a decent colour printer but they cost so much to run. Having said that, when the toner cartridge goes on the Samsung, it's 60 plus quid to replace it but you should get 10k pages out of it first. Really depends on how 'true' you want the graphics to look. trentboy2 27-06-2005, 22:24 I was thinking more along the lines of internet shopping but it'd be great if you could give me the address of the shop near you. Cheers for the info mate.... Paul Jamie 27-06-2005, 22:32 I've just bought a printer, that I'm more than satisfied with. Very good quality. Can't rate it highly enough. Ink replacement is dirt cheap too. It's a Canon Pixma iP4000. Scutts 27-06-2005, 22:36 Originally posted by Jamie I've just bought a printer, that I'm more than satisfied with. Very good quality. Just beat me to it :D Fantastic printer and available from Argos (http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=3151&productId=117970&clickfrom=name) for £110. Having tried various makes of printer, I would recommend a Canon to anyone as they seem to be so much better quality than Lexmark or Epson. Joelc 27-06-2005, 22:36 If you want really good quality, then HP, but the cartridges cost a small fortune, Epsons are a good bet, i have a Photo Stylus 1290 A3 printer, and its fantastic, about 3 years old, but still matches anything you can buy today. Maybe a little out your range at £250ish, maybe something like this (http://www.dabs.com/uk/channels/hardware/printersandscanners/productView.htm?quicklinx=2TDX) Oh, and www.mx2.com for cartridges, saved me a fortune getting em from there. Joel trentboy2 27-06-2005, 22:38 Gee wizz fellas nice one! That Canon Pixma keeps popping up where ever I look for cheap printer/scanners. Jamie 27-06-2005, 23:15 Canon Pixma iP4000 78 quid on ebuyer ... http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=8481925091&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=73080 Highly recommend it ... will_ 28-06-2005, 00:47 Another recommendation for the Pixma 4000. FWIW: I've spent a lot of time reviewing printers and Canon's models almost always stand out from the rest. This Pixma is no exception. |
