Elphi 24 12-03-2009, 06:43 The employer - unless it is insolvent in which case you would have to put in an application to BERR DaFoot 12-03-2009, 06:56 The employer may pay. There will be all sorts of criteria for eligibility though, not everyone will get a payoff and the amount paid varies between companies. mkent 12-03-2009, 14:29 I agree with DaFoot, it is the employers responsibility. spazies 14-03-2009, 15:34 How much should the employer pay? andyofborg 14-03-2009, 21:28 How much should the employer pay? That depends....... Your contract of employment may state different terms, but the statutory minumum is you need to have worked for the employer for a minimum of two years 0.5 week's pay for each full year of service where age during year less than 22 1.0 week's pay for each full year of service where age during year is 22 or above, but less than 41 1.5 weeks' pay for each full year of service where age during year is 41+ However, the "weeks pay" is subject to a maximum of £350 per week. The first £30,000 is subject to tax. You should also get whatever notice pay your contract says, unless your employer wants you to work some or all of the notice period. There are options whereby some or all of your notice pay can be paid free of tax and NI. spazies 14-03-2009, 21:49 That depends....... So say my weekly pay is £100 and I am under 22, does that mean after working for 1 year and getting made redundant, I would be entitled to £50? Liose 15-03-2009, 09:29 No redundancy payment under 2 years employment. andyofborg 15-03-2009, 11:35 So say my weekly pay is £100 and I am under 22, does that mean after working for 1 year and getting made redundant, I would be entitled to £50? I missed out a bit and that is you need to have worked for the employer for a minimum of 2 years. Sorry :( You would be entitled to your notice pay though babybel 17-03-2009, 00:00 Whatever you do make sure if it's insolvency you keep all documentation and literature exchanged. I was made redundance along with the rest of workers (6 of us) and as there was no funding to pay owed wages they were able to wipe off at least £700 for each of us. Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but watch them like hawks for signs they're trying to wriggle out of paying up. mkent 18-03-2009, 09:20 Have you managed to get it sorted gracie? gracie 18-03-2009, 16:14 mkent. I know more now than i did before, so it is just a case of wait and see. Hopefully i wont lose my job. Thanks for asking. |
