I applied for IB through West Street Job Centre at the beginning of May now. I was a bit dubious about claiming benefits as I have never done so in the past but was advised that I was entitled to this. However, I have still not heard a thing about whether I will be able to claim or not. I sent in my sick note almost immediately when I was told to do so, it was then sent back saying that I didnt have a claim, some error on their part (new computers??) so I sent back, my last employers have filled in the correct paperwork and I am still waiting to hear something. Also sent in 2 sections of a possible claim for mortgage repayments while im out of work (under our repayment protection plan) which benefits people were supposed to fill in, and you guessed it I havent received the form back, I have rung them a couple of times to tell them but they never get back to me. Whats going on!!!!
I take it you filled out the IB claim form along with the sick note that you sent in? It seems strange that they've not contacted you by now to let you know if you're eligible. I take it the need for your last employers to fill in the correct paperwork stems from your need to prove N.I. payments? Personally I'd phone the IB office directly & find out what the problem is. There should be a number on the leaflet/guidance notes you were given on how to fill in the initial form you sent in.
dont hold your breathe......they are notorious for " losing " paperwork, they once asked me for my wedding certificate and the childrens birth certicicates,i handed them in,only to receive a letter saying i could not claim benefit as i failed to hand in the requested paperwork, never did get them back.

Hmmm :suspect: you really should have heard something by now. If I were you, I'd try to get the name of the person dealing with your application and speak to them direct each time you call - ask for their direct number.
If that fails, ask to speak to the manager, and insist on speaking to the manager.
they will back date it though when you eventually get it i know mine took a while to come too.
Good luck with your claim.. I know from experience that getting anything out of the DSS is like getting blood out of a stone...
Just cos a few idiots are on the fiddle they make it so hard for genuine claimants to get money they need and deserve, WTF is going on?! :loopy:
