you both did really well.
Hope you are feeling better now!!
Hi guys!
We had the most amazing time! I was still quite poorly and very tired by that time (hence the wheelchair, I walked in at the rehearsal!) but it was an amazing experience!
Takara did me proud, I wept buckets afterwards because I was so damned proud of her, she took the whole thing in her stride and loved almost every minute (I say almost, because she did get a bit bored and fed up on Sunday afternoon!).
I don't care what anyone says, The Kennel Club were excellent and so concerned for all the dogs' welfare as well as the people. As soon as we stepped into the main arena for rehearsal on Saturday night they brought out bowls of water for all the dogs, all through the weekend they were checking I was ok and were excellent with Takara.
We were finalist number 6 because they knew Takara had a history of being nervous of other dogs (particularly labs and GSDs) so they placed us as far away from Gem, Farley and Anya as possible and right on the end so she wasn't in the middle of it all.
They really couldn't have done more for us.
Takara did fantastically - she met loads of huge dogs on Sunday and never snapped, she's never walked next to the wheelchair before (only my scooter which is bigger and goes at 8mph) so it was a new experience but she walked beautifully with me.
At the hotel they put us in there were revolving doors which T thought were fantastic, she experienced a lift for the first time and after a few trips and her legs feeling funny she got over it and did really well. She was great in the room and wonderful at Crufts.
She went on a bus for the 2nd time in her life and loved it and she was so confident and calm all weekend I was so, so chuffed with her.
All that taken into account, I feel like I won anyway, the most amazing experience and I am so, so proud of my girl - I'll start crying again soon. I've also learned from this weekend that this dog is capable of so much more than I ever thought her capable of and I'm determined to reach her full potential now!
Eddy was so pleased to see me! He got all excited and bouncy and then beat the hell out of Takara (14 year old pedigree - fit for function, fit for life!). I'm so glad he behaved for you guys LitleMermaid - next time he starts barking at me, I'll just drop him off at yours!!
We also got a lovely souvenir from the Kennel Club that I'll be putting up when I've got my room all finished - a beautiful glass plaque with 'Friends for Life 2009' on it.
Thanks everyone for your support and all of those who voted - it's lovely to know people are supporting you and I'm not disappointed with my weekend in the slightest, I don't think even winning could've made me more proud of my girl! I got totally worked up before we were due to go on and was almost in tears but she was still fantastic and did so well.
Thanks again :D

I didn't get to watch because we had tickets for a gig in town but I am so glad you had an amazing time and well done to the both of you.
Well done Lotti - I voted for you kid and even though I couldnt get the stupid crufts online link to work to watch the finals, at least I managed to see your youtube entry - you did fantastic. Glad to hear you had a great day - next year we'll get to Crufts- there was no way we were going yesterday - Finals day is always mad. Just been checking the results and thought the dobe best in breed looked familiar - his great grandad is Ailsa's dad, Victor Van Roveline and there's no mistaking that profile. Big hugs to you and Takara xK
JarvisCocker 09-03-2009, 17:30 Sounds like you had an experience to remember for ever Lottie. Really wish I could have got the live TV thing to work, but it just wouldn't. I was so cross. Well done to you two, you so deserve it.
Thanks guys!
It's so nice to know that people were supporting us and that Takara really did get the recognition!
KATIEB_23 10-03-2009, 11:00 Damn I'm gutted I couldn't watch this - still no internet at home
Well done Lotti & Takara xx
