I just got home from the Sheffield Hallam Uni Open Day, I start my final year there in September - I went along today, to explore the City Campus, and found out everything I needed to know.
I popped into the City Centre before I got my train home - I was very impressed - Some lovely old buildings, clean streets, nice shops, I'm glad there's a TJ Hughes too! I love me bargains!
Also noticed some lovely parks and green areas - Sheffield seems like a pretty damn cool place and I can't wait to move there in September!
Yeah well, we rock!
Nice to know you like our fair city ;)

Yeh, we have those sorts in sheffield unfortunatly, usually hanging around on street corners with faces like they have been batterd with a sieve.

Make sure you do all or part of the 'Sheffield Round Walk' whilst you are here. I like the Endcliffe Park to Ringinglow section.

Ah, dont run the poor traffic wardens down...
Sheffield is a damn cool city. It does admittedly have a city centre that looks as though Stalin built it on a hungover morning, but it's really mellow in feel. The suburbs are quite nice, and beyond them is utterly stunning countryside. There's a bunch of good pubs, a fervid night club scene and some good hangouts for navel-gazing, subtitled film-watching berks like myself. Pretty good really, and a blessed relief after London. And while people run it down, I'd like to remind them of the very best thing about Sheffield: it's neither Birmingham, Nottingham or the unspeakable Leicester.
Its not too big, its not too small... Its just right :D

I think Big Sheff is A1, after touring the world with the forces I just had to come back. Nothing quite like it.
