Sorry for the rant all but I need to get some stuff out.

I having the worst time of things. Sorry to Rain for not being in touch but it's been chaos here. (dogs are all fine. Nothing to worry about there.)

Right here goes. I've been off work for 5 weeks with an injured hand sustained at work (the boss is not bothered that I'm off). I like to be busy so having time off and not really being able to do much started stressing me out. There are alot of problems at work at the minute and I'm getting the blame (even though I'm off and haven't done anything). I've been arguing with one of my best friends quite a lot due to this and as you can imagine getting stressed out all the more. I've had to attend court on 2 occasions (as a witness not for me) and been messed about by the court on both occasions. With working at the hospital and knowing most of the staff when I've had to go in for my hand appointments I've been chatting to some of the doctors and it turns out I'm allergic to animals (esp cats but dogs as well). It causes my throat to swell, eyes to itch and water, sneezing, coughing and a rather bizzar skin condition (I look like Dax from DS9).

My boy Cesar has taken to randomly disliking my foster boy nugget so constant supervision has been required and when they do start it's had to be me to separate them as my housemate (bless her) has never been around dogs before she moved in with me and gets a little freaked out sometimes. The next door neighbours drain broke a week or so back and the dogs decided it tasted better than their food. All we had when we got home was loads of runny poo all over the floor (this went on for about 3 days till we worked out what the problem was). Nugget went to the vets yesterday for "the op" (feeling a little less of a man today) he tries to take the stitches out whenever the buster collar is off so it's got to stay on. Amelia has been at the vets today as my housemate told me she's been under the weather for a while. I took her in(sniffling and sneezing all the way) and they asked to keep her to do some blood tests and to pick her up later. On getting home I found Cesar had helped nugget get his collar off (after escaping from the kitchen) and nugget had had a good old go at his stitches ( all checked an everything is ok after being cleaned up and collar put back on, but panic stations for a while). I got a call from the vets at ten past 7 this evening saying I could collect Amelia but the vet wanted a "chat" so off I went. The vet was on the reception and more bad news. Amelia has liver failure. She was in 2 minds to call and ask us if they could PTS but didn't as she is so young.

She is currently in my room (which due to my allergies is usually a no no but it's quiet for her) and lucky (other cat) is sat on the landing outside my door pining for her. She is on perscription food, antibiotics and some other stuff to try and sort her out. I have to go back tomorrow for some more food for her and take nugget to get him chipped for rain as I've got no time to get him done otherwise. He goes to his new home on Sunday (lucky boy) and I've got to go back to the vets Monday for more food for Amelia that they've had to order in.

All this has been happening while the rest of life has had to continue as normal. I am so stressed out and tired right now I don't know how I'm still standing. I'm taking a couple of days out to relax before returning to work and everything coming my way again.

:(:(:(:(

Wow- that sounds like a really tough time for you and all of your animals.

Good on you for getting this far. Award yourself a hug from me and a lick from Molly, and please give the same to Amelia. She's so young to have liver failure- is there any chance that this could be caused by a hepatitis from which she could recover?

Thanks guys. I'm at my wits end at the minute. Lukily we're down to 3 dogs and my hand is on the mend so I can walk the dogs alone now. When it was bad my housemate was having to walk them. 4's a handfull for anyone but she's only 5'1".

They mentioned something about hapatitus but I'm that far gone at the minute that I couldn't really take it in. There's no way I'd have had her PTS at such a young age unless she was too far gone to be brought back. The vet did say that they had a cat in about a month ago with blood results worse than Amelia and they brought him round so fingers crossed. She's comfortable now and we'll be doing all we can for her.

All I can say is it's a good job my bank account's healthy at the minute. She's had her meds for today at the vets so I'm gonna let my housemate know what needs to be done and when when she gets in so she can carry it on while I'm away for the few days next week.

Oh no G - you are going through it all aren't you.
thank goodness nugget is going Sunday - leave the chipping - let the people bring him over to me to get done - i meant to drop the chip off at the vets to get him done, but they could have done him whilst he was under.

Re the food for Amelia - order it online - from hyperdrug - its loads cheaper - talk to me about it once you know what you want. Plus any medication she may need - the vets can write a prescription for them, and you can again - order from hyperdrug. (they can charge for pres. now, but i think it may be cheaper if she is on long term meds).

I can't believe someone like u is allergic to animals - that is just so cruel. You are really good with dogs and cats - and I know you are having a rough time of it atm. Leave off fostering now nugget is going - look after yourself and recover. You have saved so many dogs over the last few months - now's time to sort yourself out and remember - work don't give a damn about the employee - you have to look after yourself

Take care G.

Thanks Rain. With the food for Amelia I'm gonna let the vets get the first lot as we need it now and it being the weekend we won't get it in time. Will deffinitely have a look on the hyperdrug website for any further meds she needs as the ones she's on are the ones pushing the price up.

I was going to ask them to do Nugget while he was under but totally forgot so asked them to do it tomorrow as I was going up anyway and to make sure he was done.

Blimey you poor thing you really have been going through it.

If you are not sure what the vets are saying about Amelia could you ask them to write it down in Laymans terms so you can take it in. Even if you can't at the vets at least you could go home and relax (if you can) and then try and absorb it or a friend could explain it to you??
I am so sorry she is unwell and hope that the meds and diet does help.

As for allergies i know there are alot of us on here who are allergic despite the zoo's we have in our homes. I know there is a thread on here relating to allergies and i can remember Katkin posting on it who was very allergic. There may be some useful tips for managing. I would also recommend antihistamines they do help me.
I also come up in bumpy skin when i am with cats my guinea pigs and horses (even though i used to work at a stables lol) and am terrible with hay so OH has to put that in piggies cage.

Like you say with little Nugget going you will have a quieter house for a while and hopefully you can start to have some peace when your at home.
The work situation sounds like a bit of a nightmare do you need to speak to your union or request a meeting to discuss stuff or could you raise it all in supervision? I often find that once things are out in the open they are easier to resolve. There is nothing worse then dreading going to work and it is so easy to get stressed and then start to feel depressed please take care of yourself your mental health is so important :)

I hope things get better for you H xxx

You poor beggar, hope you feel better for letting off a little steam on here.

Life just sometimes seems to save up all the poop and throw it at you in one big dollop, so you just can't cope.

Hope a bit of "me" time helps to make you feel better.

Big hugs from me, dogs and cat. ((((HUG))))

lol sorru to hear your going thru a lot you sound like a fantastic person, but i just gota laugh, who called the animal nugget lol pmsl

It was me that called him Nugget purely cos he looks and acts like one. lol. Couldn't really justify calling him muppet. :hihi:

Thanks for the advice and support guys. I feel a little better about it all and am hoping my couple of days away with my boy Charlie will help even more.

When my allergies really flare up I have something that affects my blood and if I lapse in taking the antihitamins when I feel it coming on I litterally chase an itch round my body and when I finally corner it, if I'm not carefull, can end up cutting myself open (long nails) and can become really painful and has become infected before now. Due to this I'm on some heavy duty antihistamins (Drs perscription only) as well as some cream at all times for the rash. The evening routine isn't much fun I can tell you.

I'm trying to ignore work at the minute and concentrate on home to try and chill out a little before I go back but it's not really working. Keep getting phone calls and told things by the collegues who actually get on with me. The state of the office is disgusting and I'm sick of the witch hunting going on!

Well Amelia seems to be picking up a little now. Actually managed to jump onto the bed last night. I would have been immensley impressed had it not been 3am when she did it! lol. She's still quite sluggish but not as snotty now so fingers crossed all goes well on Thursday when she goes back.

Bad news is not only have I all the 1st post to contend with but my feet have now packed up and have to wear heals all the time to ease the pain. Not much fun walking around a muddy field in heals I can tell you. lol. The struggle continues I suppose. :(
