4 pm we picked up a small friendly male elderly mongrel that was dicing with death toddling along in the middle of the lane near White Lee Moor/Woods, Bradfield.
He is White with black spots, like a Jack Russell/collie, and long tail. No collar or microchip, and the dog warden has been informed. We will keep the little chap for tonight and see if the RSPCA can take him tomorrow.
He's well fed and happy, and I hope someone is looking for him.
All I have heard is that a similar little dog was walking along the middle of Manchester Rd at Wharnecliffe Side at lunchtime.
PLEASE pm me if you know anything.

Thats really kind of you to hold onto him - poor little mite.
However, the RSPCA do not take in strays. You have 2 options.
Hold onto him until Monday morning - phone Street wise and arrange for him to be collected and taken to the local Council Stray Pound - (probably be Sheffield City - but may also be somewhere else). There he will stay for 7 days if nobody comes forward - and from then on - will wait his fate with all the other loads of dogs in there - hoping someone wants him.
Or - you can ask the kennels if you can keep him for a short time, hoping that an owner comes forward quickly so he doesn't have to go through the stress and heartache of being in the pound - which hopefully they will. If they don't come forward - after 28 days you are allowed to rehome/keep him (with the councils agreement). Then maybe we can rehome him with you if you aren't able to keep the little chap.
Hopefully tho - his owners will be frantic with worry and you will be re-united
Hooray for the council animal warden who matched dog and owner!
Shellshocked owners just collected him. He had walked seven miles from Grenoside. Never underestimate a 15 year old dog!
Ah am so pleased. Good for you Bonio, good for animal warden and good for 15 year old dog! Made my day. Great result.

Aw what a lovely ending and an incredible journey!
Glad you helped him
That was quite a way to wander. So glad he is back at home. It must be horrible to loose your dog. I lost one for about 15 mins once and it was that feeling you get when you are little and lose your mum :( horrid
