phone councillors, look at area panel meeting notes and just get out there. Simple really. Trust me, you'll find the stories by asking in the shops, not on here.

You could contact the library (page info from Council site)

http://http://www.sheffield.gov.uk/libraries/find/all-libraries/firthparklibrary

to find any local history groups or other information centres etc.

Also if you look on the following site you'll be able to find some old pics of how places/streets looked in days gone by.

http://www.picturesheffield.co.uk/

Finally look on SF history site for info about Firth Park. Happy hunting

Usual unhelpful replies for this thread. I did a little research assignment of this district for my uni course but it is health and social orientated i can let you have it if you are interested.

Nowt wrong with Filthy Park.. all those that are commenting negatively on it have probably not even set foot there for years.

Firth Park itself had some beautiful flower displays last summer. It was very pleasant to just sit and look and smell the lovely scents, while watching the world go by.

A little less negativity folks please.

Firth Park was actually a pioneering 1960s experiment in socially-responsible housing and, as the first of its kind, was going to be called "First Park". Sadly the guy who performed the opening ceremony had a lisp and the name he gave it stuck.

It was earlier than that, The guy who owned Firth Browns steelworks built it for his workers, and since it had a park = Firth Park

Firth Park library published a book some years ago called 'From Bandstand to Monkey run' about Firth Park. Try them.
