View Full Version : How often do you go out with your friends?
I was just wondering as I am going out with my girlfriends for the first time in months tonight! only to the cinema, but I am still very excited! Since I started my job my social life has gone way downhill and i'm lucky if I see my friends once a month! I see my fella every weekend and we usually do something then like go out for a meal or do something interesting, but I do miss the company of my friends!
So, how often do you go out with your mates? What do you tend to do when your out and about? If its not often, whys that? If you wish you could go out more, whats stopping you?
BasilRathbon 04-03-2009, 12:12 Most of us have got so used to communicating online that we've lost the ability to interact face to face. Now when my friends and I go out to the pub we all sit in silence with our mobiles and laptops and if anyone's got anything to say they send a group text or email.
Agent Orange 04-03-2009, 12:15 About 2 to 4 times per month. I admit, I am pants at instigating things, but mostly go out when someone arranges something. Maybe I should make more of an effort to get my mates out?! It's tough being indecisive :D
I go out with my friends every couple of months..
We usually go for a big night out somewhere..
The things that stop us doing it more often are jobs, family life and lack of cash.. :)
I just wish I wasn't so knackered all the time. Ill admit only seeing fella at weekends sometimes gets in the way as a lot of my friends are at Uni thus only come back once every few weekends. Money tends not to be a problem - I can afford one night out a month (just!) :hihi: I think if I started going out a few times a week i'd suddenly come into a lot of debt though!

BasilRathbon 04-03-2009, 13:29 In the current financial situation you're better off having imaginary friends as they're much cheaper than real ones.
Sadly for me, my imaginary friend is an alcoholic and insists I accompany him to the pub and buy him drinks every night.

foxy lady 04-03-2009, 13:52 I am out and about with my friends most days of the week. We like to meet up in a cafebar or a wine bar for brunch or lunch. It is lovely to keep in touch.
Weekends are a bit different as I am out with the OH. We usually meet mutual friends or his mates and go to pubs or restaurants Friday and Saturday nights. We also usually meet up with friends on Sunday lunchtimes.

You must have some cash to travel to Mecca 3 times a week.

Also, didnt realise you had to be old to visit Mecca.

Not if you live in Jeddah:thumbsup:s
I don't have a job so cannot afford to actually enjoy myself.
Up until a month or so ago I used to go out with my long term mates four nights a week regular as clockwork. Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Now I have a partner we like to spend Sunday's and some Thursdays doing stuff together so my nights out with mates are just Saturdays and Tuesdays now
Hallamton 04-03-2009, 16:12 I go out or meet friends most days
mistyraven 04-03-2009, 16:29  If I go out its with my daughter it seems I have no mates.

A bunch of flowers and an innocent look goes a long way
EdnaKrabappe 04-03-2009, 17:33 My work friends - There is one who I used to work with who i miss loads - not seen her since before Christmas.
My uni mates - all marred with children now bar one so it tends to be their special occasions. We are having a reunion in October though and I'm seeing one on Saturday. The one who lives locally about once a week.
My old Body Shop mates - distance is problem here. I worked with people who mainly live on the south coast and london, closest Basingstoke so we meet up a couple of times a year. 2 of them are babied off now so that's changed things.
My school friends. One of them about once a week, maybe every two weeks. I usually go to her house for tea or we go for coffee. Big nights out are limited now as she's babied. The other one not seen since before Christmas.
Other friends - occasionally.
Babies and men/women change things. They shouldn't but they do.
It's about adapting your social circle as I would go mad if i had to stay in alone at the weekend.
So i am friends with quite a few people off here now who i can ring for a beer, and also my other group of gig going friends who i can do something with most nights. This weekend was low key - I stopped in every night as i felt poorly ;-( but i had three sep invites out friday, Sat was invite free unfortunately but I'd been to see my sis during the day and then Sun was out. I went out Monday and I'm going out tomorrow night and Fri/sat as well and i popped to see one yesterday and then got a busy week ahead!
I used to go out alot, usually to the pub, but don't really get on with anyone from my group of friends anymore, so I don't think I'm going to be seeing much of anyone anymore, ah I'll get to see my family more, and unfortunatly that means putting up with my sister more too! :P
Not as often as I would like. My friends live a long way away so when we meet up it tends to be for a whole weekend. This can be quite intensive (and usually expensive!), when you just fancied a quick cuppa and a chin wag!
My best friend is having twins in the summer so I am expecting things to change as there wont be space for everyone to all stay over soon :( Saying that we did not see as much of eachother when our then new partners did not really know eachother. As the years went on it got alot easier for us all to spend time together. I'll really miss it now.
This has made me now wonder is it me or is it hard to go from 'people you know' through work or hobbies for example to friends that can do lunch etc?
charlie9865 05-03-2009, 09:02 I go out with my friends a few times a month ,won't be going any where for a while now tough. Just moved in to me new home s putting funds in to that. Few nights in will be good though with the girls hehe
foxforcefive 05-03-2009, 09:07 I generally see some friend or other a couple of times a week, it may be coffee at theirs, a bottle of wine at mine, lunch out somewhere, or a mad night out.
My friends are the dearest things in the world to me (other than my babies, obviously) and I couldn't cope without them.
BasilRathbon 05-03-2009, 09:28 Well I see all strangers as just friends I have yet to meet, so in some ways I go out with friends every time I leave the house. Even if none of them ever talk to me.

This is true i have walked past many people or seen them around and they have been strangers, and some how i got talking to them and they became friends. I love making new friends it's a big world and a whole lot of new friends to make.
