Fingers crossed that the deal is done and we see MJ singing and dancing in London's O2 Arena soon. He has come over to sort out the details of a show which will see him moonwalking for fans once again.

He is rumoured to be doing 50 shows at the O2 areana, earning him an estimated £150 million! I wonder in how many of those show will he actually sing?

I'm definately going to go, probably to more than one concert if possible! he's undeniably the world's greatest entertainer and has influenced so much of todays music. Theres an advert for the O2 gigs coming up on Saturday night at 9pm on C4, it's the only time a recording artist will have taken up a whole advertising block on TV!

And for those saying that the prices are expensive, it's the O2 organisers who set the prices and not MJ himself. They are pretty reasonable to say the least at £75 for the most expensive. Its a moment in HIStory to be seen...

I was there at Don Valley in 97' and will be there in London come July :headbang::clap:

One should say that Jackson has quite a career. But, Jackson is not without controversy. There have been allegations throughout the year that Jackson was a child molester. However, Jackson was acquitted of those charges. Overall, one cannot deny that Jackson is indeed the King of Pop.

No dis-respect to the fans, but here's how I see this going down...

Firstly, expectations will be too high. He'll be judged against his performances of 20 years ago. I'll give it about 3 days in it's until all over the papers and the Internet that he can't sing and/or dance anymore. I wouldn't be surprised if he 'does a britney' and mimes some or all of his way through.

I also don't believe for one second that his has the stamina, health or energy to see out 50 nights. If i'm not mistaken, aren't all of his public appearances in recent years plagued with his non-appearance?

So about 8-10 days in, after he's worn out, bits of him have fallen off :o, or he gets a constant drubbing from the media - whichever happens first - and the cancellations will start. Then there will be some very ****** off fans.

He has an awful lot to prove. I'll eat my hat and give him my respect if he pulls this off. Just can't see how...

p.s. And is it just me who thinks it a little suspicous how, on his first visit back to the UK in years to announce the gig, he goes to see Oliver in the west end. A show about a small boy:suspect: . Hmmmm....

Yes you can, rather like George III Jackson has lost his throne long before his death for reasons that are all too obvious.

He used to be 'the king of pop' now he's just a pitiable freak who made some good records back in the 80s and early 90s.

Michael Jackson is not you're average, run-of-the-mill artist that we're all subjected to nowadays.. i.e X-factor winners, one-hit wonders, brit pop trash etc... He is famed for breaking records, doing sell-out tours all over the world, having the best concerts, music, video's, dancing etc..etc.. MJ has always sung live at concerts, Britney, Madonna etc had to mime because they can't sing live.

I also don't believe for one second that his has the stamina, health or energy to see out 50 nights. If i'm not mistaken, aren't all of his public appearances in recent years plagued with his non-appearance?

You don't believe it because you read the same media bull and tabloid trash like most of the people who moan about every little thing. As everyone saw when MJ came out for the announcement of his concerts, he was not weak, feeble, in a wheelchair, mrsa-ridden and his nose wasn't falling off!

So about 8-10 days in, after he's worn out, bits of him have fallen off :o, or he gets a constant drubbing from the media - whichever happens first - and the cancellations will start. Then there will be some very ****** off fans.

True MJ fans will not be ****** off, they will be happy to hear him perform for only half an hour if it be so. The media WILL be negative about the show - theres no doubt about it - they always give him a hard time, it's what tabloid junkies want to hear.

He has an awful lot to prove. I'll eat my hat and give him my respect if he pulls this off. Just can't see how...

Prove what? Who to?.. I'm just happy knowing he's back to what he loves doing - singing and entertaining his fans. I have faith he will complete the concerts - THEY'RE NOT every single night, so he will get a rest y'know.

p.s. And is it just me who thinks it a little suspicous how, on his first visit back to the UK in years to announce the gig, he goes to see Oliver in the west end. A show about a small boy:suspect: . Hmmmm....

Thats a pretty sad, little attempt at 'controversy' which shows how you really feel about MJ. In case you didn't pick up on the rest of that story apart from the headline of your copy of the sun - MJ was with his children, he was taking them out to see a show.. Does this mean anyone with kids cannot go to watch a show that has kids in it without being slammed as peado's by you?..

Lestat

i like how he kept saying he loved his fans so much if he loves them so much why are the ticket prices so high talk about rewarding loyalty eh

Ask the organisers at O2 . . they set the prices NOT MJ. They also pay MJ to perform.

When MJ did his Dangerous tour in the 90's all money from them went to the 'Heal the world' charity which helps underpriveledged children all over the world.

He also did a 2 and a half hour concert in Bucharest 'free of charge' for fans after seeing the orphanages in Romania and gave money to help build new ones.

I can't see people like Britney, Oasis, Madonna etc doing this. Loyalty is measured in different ways.

That was an unfortunate misunderstanding. The theatre was doing a special "Kids For A Quid" deal and Jackson turned up and asked for a tenner's worth.

MJ's albums have rocketed back up the charts on the back of news of his sell-out concerts  Even though he has the biggest selling album in the world and more awards than any other single artist.

He's only pitiable to people like you who can't wait to slate his every move, every person has problems in their life/career which they overcome if they're strong-willed enough. MJ has proven this over and over and over again by keeping his publicity machine puffing along at good pace and people talking about him like me and you now - add more fuel to it! Good on him, his shows have sold out within a matter of days, if he's so past it like you say - how come he has sold out with many, many more thousands still wanting tickets???

Tickets are going like hot cakes, they're for sale on eBay from £2,500 to £75,000!!!.. does this mean MJ's a pitiable freak who's past it?.. I bet no other group, band or single artist could match these kinds of selling figures.

Jackson is pitiable to anyone who finds people so delusional they contrive to ruin their health due to a fetish for elective surgery pitiable.

every person has problems in their life/career which they overcome if they're strong-willed enough. The Spice Girls sold out a bunch of dates at the O2 a while back (does this make them the Queens of pop?) and there were fanciful stories about people bidding extravagant sums on eBay for their tickets as well that you accept such stories at face value simply demonstrates how clueless you are and how desperate you seem to be to worship your idol.

Such stories are popular with the news media as they're easy copy which gets peoples attention and with eBay as they get free publicity. But they are often bogus featuring joke bids for joke items and if the items actually exist at all (which they obviously don't for many of the Jackson tickets listed on ebay before they were available) the sums of money which actually change hands are far more modest.

Comparing the Spice Girls to MJ is like comparing a corner shop to Harrods... made their money off a few teenybop songs and disappeared.

Also, about the tickets. . . I take it you must work for eBay as you seem to know for definate about the extortionate prices people are charging - or not charging? Can you tell me where you know for definate that this is not true??

I have the wonderful british tabloid media to back me up. what are your sources?

JohnnyMathis

Aye, Johnny's got to agree, apart from them digging John Lennon and George Harrison up, or getting Elvis to give up his milk round and go back to singing, Jacko is about the biggest concert you could hope to see in world music today.

Jackson sold out a bunch of date at the O2 as did the Spice Girls they seem pretty comparible to me. Especially in the context of this thread where I only brought up the Spice Girls in responce to your claims (http://www.sheffieldforum.co.uk/showpost.php?p=4791444&postcount=47) that Jackson having sold out a bunch of dates at the O2 in some way proves that he's 'the King of Pop' and not a 'pitiable freak'.

To use your metaphor if a 'corner shop' level act like the Spice Girls can have a sold out residency at the O2 wouldn't that suggest that Jackson isn't 'Harrods' but simply a slightly bigger corner shop?

Also, about the tickets. . . I take it you must work for eBay as you seem to know for definate about the extortionate prices people are charging - or not charging? Can you tell me where you know for definate that this is not true??

Webzine draws $3 million eBay bid (http://news.cnet.com/2100-1017-224873.html)
Irish nation for sale on eBay reaches €10,000 (http://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/local-national/irish-nation-for-sale-on-ebay-reaches-euro10000-14217324.html)

Only the terminally dumb and those who desperately want the stories to be true take such stories about bids on ebay at face value.
