Just to let anyone who lives in the Middlewood Area know, that a local forum newsletter 'Middlewood Messenger' will be delivered to all residents in area, including WPV.

Should anyone have any articles of interest they would like to be included please PM me. It will be going to print in the next couple of weeks.

Anyones feedback on the refurbishment of Middlewood Park would also be welcomed.

Yeah if it's 50% adverts it will finish up 100% recycling before anyone has read it.

Subsequently, my advice for your Middlewood mag is lower quality printing is better if it means less adverts. Rather have poorer quality paper than a glossy full of tat.

Be assured advertising will be restricted but is a necessary evil to ensure we have to cash to print a second run. Any advertising will be VERY local business and relevant to the community.

Whats Active8?

Active8 is a local magazine for the sheffileld 8 area. In the back there is a charming "then and now" section where old pics of yesteryear are printed of the area along with grannies talking about their school days at the local schools etc.. And asking about the whereabouts of childhood friends and local characters.

But the rest of the magazine is just a feature about some local firms with interviews of the staff etc.. It is a blatent advert dressed up as a feature, and after reading 2 sentences you turn over the page. The main problem with this magazine is there is virtually no editorial and when there is, it is about the regeneration of some place in derbyshire. I get the impression that the writer of this magazine lives in derbyshire and can't be bothered.
or
maybe there just isn't enough news to support a magazine such as this.

Or maybe, looking for news is a bit like hard work!

lol, hence I want local people who have something they may think relevant/useful to put it forward. No, the whole idea behind this project is to inform the area about whats happening. WPV have unfortunately been dropped in a black hole when it comes to community ect. (no meeting place, shops ect) therefore they need something to connect them. There are so many things happening in the area and the information previously got around like chinese whispers (if it got around at all).

Time everyone had a voice where they didnt have to attend a meeting to be heard, or find out stuff.

Well that sounds like a very good idea.

I hope you get good stories, unlike Active8 which often leads with things like a feature about the new girl who has come to work at one of the local hairdressers, with a list of her hobbies and hairdressing qualifications.

Also, Active8 is an unfortunate name as it resembles the kind of thing you might get on Nazi propoganda. A and 8, in the same title -- dodgy.. :loopy:

A friend of mine, who's father was in a concentration camp in the war, saw it in my house and said, "what have you got that for".
I explained it wasn't the latest Combat18 magazine, but a harmless local interest magazine.

There aren't even any puzzles...

Hello from me. If you live on Wadsley Park Village you will find pinned to the noticeboard near the church the 1st edition of the MIDDLEWOOD MESSENGER.

Its not loads of information, but I just wanted to get it out there and let everyone know there was a place to find out whats happening in the area.

The address for sending in letters, info or ideas is at the bottom. Obviously your feedback would be appreciated and if you have something to include let me know.
