Noticed a construction crane going up alongside the roundabout between Shalesmoor and Penistone Road, - (Dun Street ?).

Anyone know what's being built there ?

Last time I looked they were knocking buildings down for the relief road. Not seen this crane though.

The crane was going up this morning as we drove past at about 11 am. Can't imagine an apartmet block just there, - perhaps it's something to do with the IRR project, - materials storage site etc.

Ther is going to be a link road joining sheffield parkway to penistone road.

Passed the site again this morning. The crane is complete and a fair sized compound fenced off. There was a 'METRIS' sign hanging on the fence so presumably it's going to be more flats. [Couldn't see anything about it on their web site]

Certainly won't be a skyscraper from the size of the crane, but with all the demolition on the opposite side of Shalesmoor and the new road going through the area will look quite different in twelve months or so.

If it at the end of Alma Street, it's a development by Raven of student accommodation.
