View Full Version : Veggie suggestions please.. Accomm 03-03-2009, 12:46 I was wondering what veggies people's guinea pigs like to eat? Mine are getting very choosey... sezbetz 03-03-2009, 13:01 Rodney loves broccoli - the odd slice of apple, celery, parsnip oh and beetroot... actually he eats everything given to him! :) Moonbird 03-03-2009, 13:03 Mine love everything, spring cabbage, spinach, carrot, tomato, cucumber, curly kale, mixed salad leaves (not iceberg lettuce) hay and of course fresh grass in spring :) sezbetz 03-03-2009, 13:06 dandelion leaves too as a treat ( I keep some growing on my front garden just for the animals - well its a good excuse not to do any weeding!!! lol) theslithytove 03-03-2009, 15:00 All sorts of lettuce leaves (other than iceberg). Coriander and dill are huge favourites. Red, green or yellow pepper (good for vitamin C) are always popular. Fresh grass and other forages - dandelions, plantain leaves, lemon balm, strawberry leaves. Swiss chard always disappears quickly. *Peaches* 03-03-2009, 15:03 Kale, cucumber, carrots, cabbage, beetroot (only the bulb not the leaves) are amongst mine's fave's though I could give you a list a mile long of what they can have Accomm 04-03-2009, 12:07 Thanks guys, i'm off down the market now, Think Boris will look particularly lovely with beetroot stain on his white nose!:hihi: sezbetz 04-03-2009, 20:57 Thanks guys, i'm off down the market now, Think Boris will look particularly lovely with beetroot stain on his white nose! and not forgetting the purple poos that will decorate his cage too!!! :) Accomm 05-03-2009, 12:13 unfortunately the beetroot wasn't a hit, they licked it abit then ran back to the cage door and started sweaking again! :( They won't eat peppers... haddockman 05-03-2009, 14:17 Ours LOVE curly kale, but like others have said, if you can get hold of dandelion leaves in the spring/summer, they love those and they don't cost a penny! |
