View Full Version : Coventry Vs Blades (Match Thread)
SteveBlade 02-03-2009, 15:45 The Blades could really do with getting something out of this, a win would take us closer to the automatic places, and leave us looking good! I would settle for a point though.. Imo the two games this week will be make or break, get 4 or 6 points from them both and we would be looking seriously at the automatic places, and we could even be in them.. Get 0,1 or 2 points then we would be in that position again where we could be 9 or 10 points off the top two.
Dont think there should be to many changes from the team that played Brum apart from a couple.
Kenny
Naughton Morgan Killa Naysmith
Cotts Monty Quinn/Hendrie Halford
Henderson Webber/Lupoli
Subs:
Howard, Sun, Bromby, Beattie, Ward.
UTB!
I don;t think harford will start on wednesday he picked up an injury on sunday and was limping heavily at the end.
I would take a point tomorrow- coventry are finding there feet at the minute and look dangerous!
your win yesterday has given you a sniff of automatic promotion, seeing as the top three all seem intent on throwing it away.6 points is not a massive gap to close

We are capable of taking 3 points there even tho' they have improved lately-beating Blackburn in the cup also.We just need to carry on playing like we have been.I think Saturday might be tougher,we always seem to struggle there, only seen us win once (1991 I think).
Robbie Loving 04-03-2009, 17:55 Well, about twenty minutes from ground. Hoping for three pioints tonight, we certainly could do with them and certainly are capable enough.
I will settle for the same as last season : poor game but a win
SteveBlade 04-03-2009, 18:03 Starting line up:

Stockers 04-03-2009, 20:50 Oh ay - new club record, 12 away league matches unbeaten!!
Come on Blades, cracking result, lets get our places in these play off consolodated!!!
How a few results change things, Bramall Lane is buzzing these days.
All this doom and gloom and unrest talk was nothing more than a bit of wind up from our Wednesday friends :)
not an easy place to get maximum points keeps the pressure on the top 2/3 cracking result
DLPLASTERING 04-03-2009, 20:53 Excellent result. We should have a decent run going on the next few upcoming games.
Hopefully win 'em all, get top 2 in table.
Well done Morgan, and Bromby [although wheres our strikers to score the goals]
NERVY-OWL 04-03-2009, 20:54 a tricky team to play so a good result for you.

woodman123 04-03-2009, 21:04 ANY BLADES INTERESTED IN SOME SOLID WOOD BLADE PLAQUES DIA 210mm x 16mm thick . PLEASE E MAIL ME FOR PICTUREpauldawson1889@hotmail.com
Robbie Loving 04-03-2009, 21:04 well i'm happy with the three points.
Blackwell finally realised we were struggling against Gunnarsons long throws and brought the big lads on. O'toole looked very good and hopefully will get a starting role from now on. Quality ball in for Morgans goal.

joshtetley 04-03-2009, 21:33 Good win against a team in form, this sets us up nicely for the weekend game and if we win that one then its all to play for.still dont think we can get into the top 2 but its becoming interesting.

SteveBlade 04-03-2009, 21:37 who have you got on saturday?
QPR away, followed by Blackpool next Tuesday at home, and Derby at home on the Saturday.

the QPR game looks the hardest of the three-caqnt see you having ant problems seeing off blackpool and derby

You're forgetting about the return of Rob Hulse for Doooooorby. We've got a bit of a patchy record at QPR, but I think we could get something there.
Blackpool should be OK on paper, which means we'll probably lose ;)
Rocklegend 05-03-2009, 07:24 Derby wont be easy.just our luck if hulse scores.
He's had his goal against us at their place so hopefully that's it.
Great performance by all accounts against one of the in-form teams in the league!
Lets get 6 points from the next 3 games and then we can look forward to the playoffs!

Even after a 'cracking result' you still have to get the word Wednesday into your post. But on the other hand it's very comforting to know that you're always thinking of us. ;)

I dunno - our away for is impressive but QPR won't be an easy game and derby have been on a very good streak recently- im glad commons is injured and i hope he misses the game at the lane because when he decides to turn up he usually runs a game.
But saying that- we have a strong squad (if a little light upfront) and we SHOULD have too much for all 3 of them!
(thats 3 thumping defeats now isn't it! :()

you really need to be looking to collect 7 points from those games
I think to have any chance of the playoffs i agree- 7 points and then winning our game in hand should see us into the playoffs- thats the priority :D
u neally were guna lose mate just face the facts

i think you need to make sure of a play off spot -then maybe there is a glimer of auto matic
Rocklegend 05-03-2009, 16:08 After the first 20 minutes when they were getting crosses in too easily, we looked pretty good.I was impressed with the substitutions aswell.Beattie looked a lot better than Sunday when his control let him down more than once and O'Toole looked dangerous-almost scoring from long range. Not seen too may comments on the first 'goal' though.Even on the big screen it looked nowhere near a goal;nice to see the luck falling to us after the Hull game.

i made the point after the hull game that over a season the luck usually evens itself out -and so its been proved mate

And what?
Earwiggo 05-03-2009, 17:42 It's all well and good this goal- line technology an'all dat, but how does a machine tell the difference between a ball, and a foot, or a hand, or an arm, or a glove, or a water bottle? ..... Innit!

Probably the same way a metal detector detects only metal or a gas tester only finds gas innit :hihi:

i think there would be a camera in the post linked to a moniter ,that would sort it out

hows about having the net straight down from the cross bar to 3 inch behind the line, then the net could have a leather detector built in and if it bleeps then its obvious the ball has touched it,as a precaution the keeper should wear rubber gloves and the players pvc boots.innit

Robbie Loving 05-03-2009, 19:33 Just to keep people aware of the forum rules, it's against rules to which you signed up for to use text speak. We are generally lenient with this - however further instances will be removed.
I hear you Rob I'll be on my best behaviour innit
Earwiggo 06-03-2009, 11:05 Brilliant result for the Blades at Cov.
I'm beginning to wonder now, if you can make the playoffs?
I didn't give you a prayer a month ago, but you've grinded out some decent results of late, having some bad luck, and some good luck on the way.
I still can't see you keeping it up, your undefeated run has to end soon, and that could be a catalyst when it does happen...... Innit!
alex3659 07-03-2009, 12:19 Brilliant result for the Blades at Cov.
