ImpInaBox 01-03-2009, 00:27 It's March now, the '09' registrations are out, and it's time to vote in our latest competition. The subject in February was 'Love' and there were just 9 entries - wassup wi' yer all?
You can see the entries here (http://gallery.sunset-studio.co.uk/v/Feb09/). Click on a thumbnail pic to see it enlarged. Alternatively try the 'View Slideshow' link to see them all without having to return to the gallery page every time.
And just keep in mind while you're out and about with cameras, the subjects for the next few months competitions are...
March: Weather
April: Creative Cranes
May: Technology
June: Expression
July: Urban Detail
August: Leading Lines
September: Street Life
October: Domestic Still Life
November: The Dark Side
December: Celebration
ImpInaBox 02-03-2009, 17:42 C'mon you lot - get voting! Two days gone and we only have 10 votes cast. Are we still interested in this comp or what???
Interested? Yup. I just don't get time to get out much with the camera :(
Looking at those I should have thought of my kangaroo pics, got a couple that I really like (though technically not great).
Galbraith 04-03-2009, 13:55 C'mon you lot - get voting! Two days gone and we only have 10 votes cast. Are we still interested in this comp or what???
As an occasional contributor and voter, here's my twopennethworth.
Conflict was a blummin tricky subject, even if not taken literally.
Love is a rather personal subject and maybe there were less entries for this reason.
January and February weather is not conducive to getting out and taking lot's of photos.
If you don't contribute, you are less likely to vote.
I would expect you will be snowed under by photos for the March compo...
ImpInaBox 05-03-2009, 16:46 Nah - I'm convinced poeps is hibernating. And looking out of the window today I think I'd be happy doing that for another month or two!
bebopaloola 07-03-2009, 14:14 There will defo be lots of photos to vote on next month prob all snow scenes lol! looking forward to casting my vote again.
Must... create... march.... thread.
doh.
garydickson 09-03-2009, 08:32 So who were the lucky winners? (I was the sheep :)) Down in the flood was my favourite, made me think of a Jack Vettriano painting.
Paternal Love was mine - thanks for all the votes - the most I've had before has been 1 :hihi:
Beetroot 09-03-2009, 22:58 What's happening, second month in a row where the winners have come forward rather than waiting for the winning photos to be announced and posted?
ImpInaBox are you hibernating too :-)
ImpInaBox 10-03-2009, 11:05 ZZZZZZZ...
Huh? Oh yes - the competition... er...
Wow - joint winners this month...

Well done everybody. Would the other joint winner and 3rd place like to come forward (and admit that you don't know how to re-size your images!!)
Bad_Hair_Day 10-03-2009, 23:37 3rd place was me - thanks for the votes everyone.
Not sure what you're saying about the size though imp, as I thought the comp rules said that the photos were automatically resized when they were uploaded? Which is why I didn't bother!
Anyway, no harm done. thanks again to those who voted. Looking forward to this month's comp.
Beetroot 10-03-2009, 23:41 Hearty Hands got my vote, should have been a winner in my humble opinion, either way congratulations for coming third :-)
Ark-Seven 11-03-2009, 12:17 Down In The Flood was me. Yes i am guilty of not resizing...
thanks everyone.
ImpInaBox 11-03-2009, 20:45 Yes, Bad_Hair_Day, you're right that the gallery resizes images, but personally I wouldn't trust it to resize and produce the sort of results I could get thru resizing and then sharpening again in Photoshop.
But as you say, no harm done. And congrats on the placing. I must admit I thought your image had come from a library - looks just like the sort of stuff you can donwload from istockphoto. Maybe you ought to post some of your images to a library - might be a nice little earner!
Bad_Hair_Day 11-03-2009, 21:27 hmmmm - not thought of doing that Imp. I'm still very hit and miss with my pics so maybe when I've improved a bit more.
I've just got April's issue of Photography Monthly which happens to have an article on resizing pics so I'll try that out next time I enter the comp.
cheers for your comments!
Oops... the gallery is set up to resize to 650px by 650px. My bad!
Can we run this competition again - my 5Dmk2 arrives today, and I'll be taking a photo of it - not going to use it mind, but doesn't the thought of a fab new camera stimulate the senses with a heady endorphin filled feeling of euphoria, just like being in love!
