Today they announced that ITV4 when launched will be for a male audience [apparently ITV2 is for women and ITV3 is for old peeps ?]

Do we really need another ITV channel and if we do need ITV4 what should they put on there for us guys ?

We don't need any more ITV channels IMO... Although I would like to see more British sports on Satellite than the stuff they show on Sky Sports/Eurosports et al...

British wrestling would be good, proper wrestling I mean not FWA or other WWE style stuff.. I mean classic stuff from the likes of Giant Haystacks, Big Daddy, Mick McManus etc.

I think a better idea (for digit TV) would be a +1 for each standard station (i.e. 1-5). Incase you miss your programme like :D

ITV4 Schedule

7pm - Map Readers from Hell - Carol Voorderman, once again showing just how intellectual and clever she is, takes the mickey out of the Jones family from Cardiff, who can't find their way out of Wales. Interactive viewers can play along using their red button. Make sure the N points towards the top of your map.
7.30 - Varicose Veins Makeover - Davina McCall (with a decent pair of pins) visits a city hospital where the winner of a raffle can win a luxury Varicose Veins makeover. Eamon Holmes provides the tea.
8pm - Changing Blouses - Trinni and Susannah decide which type of blouse Martin - soon to be Martina - should marry his/her boyfriend in. Should (s)he go for chiffon, or a racey cotton number. You, the viewer, must decide!!
9pm - Friends - another, yes, another chance to try and find something remotely funny about this smug US pile of garbage.
9.30 - Trisha - Ex-Grange Hill babe Trisha Yates hosts another round of let's-try-to-be-american-idiots, shouting at each other and showing their dirty washing in public. Tonight's programme, tentatively titled Shat Your Maaarf, discusses why it's not all that shameful for a ten year old to get pregnant in order to get on the housing ladder. Viewers can win an i-pod for phoning in and stating why it's society that has let poor Tinsel down.
10pm - Kerb Crawlers - NEW SERIES - John Lesley, in his Landrover Discovery takes us on an intimate journey through some of the seedier areas of some of England's Inner Cities. May contain scenes of high-heel shoes, orange street lighting and cigarette smoke. Tonight we're in Liverpool. The Dingle to be exact.
11pm - World's Worst Dentistry - Live from a late night dental hospital, Shane Macgowan shows how with a needle and some paraffin, even the most qualified dentist can get things all 'tits-up'. Viewers can vote for 'Most Mangled Gob' at the end of the show. There'll be a link to Amazon.co.uk for viewers wishing to delve into the delights of The Pogues' fine back catalogue.
12pm - Something with a bit of grunting in it. Yes, it's highlights of today's action from Wimbledon. Sponsored by Tenna Lady.
12.30pm - Another chance to see everything from above, minus the adverts
12.45pm - The News and Weather.
1am - Government Health Warning: Too much ITV can seriously damage your health.

I can't think of one decent TV channel. Why don't they have fewer channels and actually have some decent programmes on them?

I think it is actually Men and Motors rebadged. It used to be called Granada Men & Motors years ago, so is probably an ITV channel anyway.

ITV4 - is it needed ?

Is ITV1 needed? Whether or not ITV4 is needed given that ITV1 isn't the force it used to be perhaps the bosses at ITV should have put more time, effort and money into making ITV1 better rather than launching more channels that not everyone can watch and few people do watch.

Apparently Ofcom or whoever has reduced the price of the terrestrial transmission licence this year for ITV from 250 million or so to about 80 - this will leave them with a billion quid spare [hence share price jumped up yesterday] - hopefully they will spend it wisely :P

Cant remember when I last saw sommat on ITV. oh yeah - celebrity love island :(

Hey up, they've announced whats gonna be on ITV4 :

ITV men's channel unveils line-up

David Letterman's Late Show will be screened every weeknight
ITV4, ITV's new digital channel for men, has unveiled its programme line-up ahead of its launch on 1 November.
Targeting "a discerning male audience" aged 22 to 45, the channel will broadcast a mix of imported US TV dramas, films, comedy and sport.

Its programmes include the new series of Kojak starring Pulp Fiction's Ving Rhames, crime drama Wanted and David Letterman's nightly talk show.

The channel will also screen Champions League football from next year.

Comedy offerings include The Assistant - a spoof reality show based on The Apprentice - and Invasion Iowa starring Star Trek's William Shatner.

'New dimension'

Alongside such mainstream Hollywood movies as Magnum Force and The Fast and the Furious, ITV4 will also screen feature-length documentaries such as Outfoxed and The Hunting of the President.

Programmes will start broadcasting at 1800 daily.

Channel editor Stephen Arnell said ITV4 would bring "a whole new dimension to the ITV family of channels".

The service is intended to complement the female demographic of ITV2 and the older audience of ITV3.

The channel was announced in June after ITV won an auction for a spare slot on the digital television platform Freeview.

The best thing about ITV4 will be Letterman (returning to UK screens after 6 months) and the repeats of Larry Sanders (an absolute classic - anyone who enjoys Curb Your Enthusiasm will enjoy it)

Other than that, not much worth watching. Better than ITV2 or ITV3 though I have to say.

The More 4 station coming up does look good though - quality US programmes such as Jon Stewart's Daily Show, West Wing, NYPD Blue etc.
