Kidulthood And Adulthood

Just wondering what people think of these 2 films personally i think there really gripping and infuential the first 1 hit me that hard i found myself crying at the end of it aswell as it making me think my life over the second one didnt have quite that much of a effect but still it did influence me. I think if people watched these films they would see a more modern way of life in london its really quite shocking when you consider the film was based on 'trying to show the way life is in london'.

Watched Kidulthood many times until I lost the DVD in a custody battle with my ex. One of the main characters - the psychopathic, brooding, Sam - is played by Noel Clarke, otherwise known as Rose's dorky boyfriend in Dr Who.

Would highly recommend it - it provides a view of London and teenage life which is unsentimental, funny at times, heartbreaking at times, and which I would argue is very, very accurate. Being a young person is hard!

There is a gory torture bit which I couldn't bear to see, but apart from that I thought most of the so-called "controversial" scenes were perfectly watchable (and Eastenders scares me sometimes). Yes, Kidulthood does contain teenage pregnancy, violence, drug and gun use. But nothing is gratuitous; every incident is used in the context of a gripping, yet still very believable storyline.

I have the Adulthood DVD on order, so will look forward to seeing the antics of a reformed Sam.

How come you mention his role in Dr Who instead of his seminal role as Wyman in Auf pet?? ;)

Cracking films, both of them. Kidulthood is definitely better, although I did enjoy Adulthood too. I'm always surprised that more people haven't seen these films - hardly any of my friends have even heard of either of them.

Not really as it doesn't turn out all that well for those mixed up in it all. The message of the 2 films is more to show the folly of being a part of the 'yoof culture', which is what writer and actor Noel Clarke wanted to express. If anyone seriously watches either of these films and then thinks, "You know what, I'd love to be in that situation!" then they have severe mental deficiencies!

Utter trash but the themes are rather relevant in this day and age
