Does anyone know of anywhere is the Sheffield area that does swimming lessons just for adults?

think you can get the adult lessons for £10 at all of the SIV venues; Ponds, Hillsborough and Concord

I'd recommend these - I've had lessons at Concord and they are great. I'm not a very strong swimmer, but having lessons has certainly improved my confident x

do you mind if I ask how hold you are pinkster? my mum is interested but she'd be daunted by young people and embarrassed at learning to swim at her age.

For a total beginner Concorde is good in that the so called deep end isn’t very deep.

When I went the people were middle aged or older, I used to do widths or maybe a length but soon progressed to doing 50 lengths in the lane swimming sessions, go for it, you will not regret it.

Madhappy - you should never ask a girl her age!!?

Seriously though, tell her not to worry. There's a wide range of age groups, young and old (but no kids!). The group that I attend with are a really nice mix of people - all really friendly. The instructors are great too.

At the end of the day, there's nothing to be embarassed about - swimming is a life skill that everyone should learn!

just wanted to say thanks for posting this as I went to Hillsborough Adults Swimming lessons for the bargain 8 weeks for £10 and it was great. I was so worried about going and looking silly as I'm 38 and can't really swim but the staff made me feel so comfortable and relaxed. I've been for two weeks now and I feel a lot more confident in the water.

You never know I may take the grand kids to the Lesiure pool in a few weeks!!
