Was on rutland road this afternoon, tons of traffic as usual... The woman in front of me forgot to stick the handbrake on and bang, ran into me.......
Have you had similar stupid experiences with people?? She was an elderly lady fair enough, but still......I'm so frustrated!!

Difficult one that, always difficult to prove the person in front ran in to the back of you.

My sister went to cross a road today and got knocked over by a car! Needless to say lots of grazing a a nasty cut to the elbow. It must be a day for traffic accidents.

I once hit a car in front of me because I was actually staring at a woman stood outside Somerfields at Firth Park. It was right on the raised pedestrian crossing. It could have been a person I hit. After that I drove a bit more careful.

I was stood stationary at the traffic lights outside of netto on catchbar lane.....car came up behind me and carried on! Wow.....he hit my towbar and crumpled the front of his car! No damage at all to mine but when I got out I found this little kiddy quaking in his little boots. He had just passed his test and was driving his Mum's car. He was so worried and so upset. I could see that he was a decent kid so I just took his details and told him that my insurance company would be in touch with him. I had to make efforts not to smile but of course I had no intentions of ringing my insurance company........I just hope that he learnt a very valuable lesson from his first "car crash"........PAY ATTENTION AT ALL TIMES! lol. I bet his Mum was not so forgiving! lol.

mmmmmm skatiechik........Diesel did not say that the woman in front of him ran into the back of him. He actually said that she ran into him. The scenerio here is that they were on a hill......she forgot to put her handbrake on and so rolled back into him.

Unfortunately, being hit from behind is a (not too regular) feature of my work, and you need to be careful in thinking the same as rothschild.

There could well be damage underneath the car or behind the bumper that isn't immediately apparent. Always report it to the insurance company to cover yourself for the trouble turning up later, or indeed if the other party tries to turn it round and say it was your fault!

Most insurance companies' view is that the vehicle behind should have stopped a safe distance from the vehicle in front, just in case the vehicle in front runs back, for whatever reason. They may take the view that it was the driver behind's fault or they may deal with it as a knock for knock ~ in other words each insurance company will deal with its own insured.

However, you may be insured by one of the few insurance companies that doesn't take this view

So if you are a few metres away and they are slowly going backwards what are you meant to do apart from sound you horn, assuming there is nowhere to go? I don't think anyone could say this was the person who got hit's fault. Would insurance companies still take this as 50/50 at best?

The worst offenders at this are women in highheels when they try to keep the clutch on the biting point.

WOMEN - ALWAYS WEAR FLAT HEELED SHOES

i will agree with that, i cannot drive in anything other than flat shoes and the one time i wore my high heel boots it was so hard!

i almost ran into the back of someone the other day but it was not mine or her fault, we were turning left and some idiot on a mobile phone was coming other was and turning same way we were. instead of waiting (we had right of way) he decided to go into the side of her (just managed to stop did not hit her) i almost went into back of her and the guy behind me who wanted to go straight ahead almost hit the back of me! the moron just stuck his fingers up and shot off!
the woman had 4 young kids in the car with no seatbelts so could have been very fatal!
