View Full Version : I have just put a deposit on a new camera! *Peaches* 24-02-2009, 14:51 Well, a 2nd hand one in fantastic condition its a Canon EOS 400D, I'm so excited! 0742Sheff 24-02-2009, 17:39 Lucky you :) I am hoping to step up to a DSLR in a few months. *Peaches* 24-02-2009, 17:40 Spotted it in Cash Generator, brilliant condition and great price too HarryMac 24-02-2009, 17:41 Hope you do well with it Peaches and looking forward seeing the results. Strix 24-02-2009, 17:42 Jealous!! the Canon EOS 400 series seem popular for taking action shots Mr Strix says I can have a new camera, so I should really start the nightmare of sorting out what's going to be most suitable for taking hound pics! starmag 24-02-2009, 23:07 How much (if you don't mind me asking) did you pay for it? I've never found the Cash Generators to be that well priced?...I may well start popping in more often if they offer good deals!!! thanks *Peaches* *Peaches* 25-02-2009, 16:21 £225 all in :D starmag 25-02-2009, 16:25 eeeeeek... I'm there! *Peaches* 25-02-2009, 16:26 Well worth it I thought 0742Sheff 25-02-2009, 16:39 I'll be checking all those types of shop out more often. I thought they were rip off merchants :o *Peaches* 25-02-2009, 16:40 This cam had only come in that day willman 25-02-2009, 16:48 Thats a cracking bargain Peaches.. For anybody in Sheff ,CEX have some "secondhand"ones in stock. *Peaches* 25-02-2009, 16:52 I checked my CEX, £500  willman 25-02-2009, 16:54 £300 in the one in Sheff town centre the other week - not as good a bargain as yours. Can't you trade some piggies in part ex.:hihi: *Peaches* 25-02-2009, 16:55 I could offer a naked one as park ex, might not get the same interest though 0742Sheff 25-02-2009, 18:17 What's CEX? *Peaches* 25-02-2009, 21:22 Like cash converters, only usually more expensive. There's one opposite Halifax bank near the Cathedral on the same side as Bradford and Bingley 0742Sheff 25-02-2009, 21:25 Ohh... You mean that fugly red thing. They really do like to charge top dollar for used equipment from what i have seen. Not that i have been in there often. *Peaches* 25-02-2009, 21:30 Yes, thats the place. 0742Sheff 25-02-2009, 21:35 I will still be having a look more often. I want to break in to the DSLR market sooner rather than later. starmag 25-02-2009, 23:08 Well, I dont think CEX is officially 'second hand'...some of the equipment could most certainly be there without the actual owners consent. The good thing about the shop is that if you ever get burgled you can go and get your stuff back. The bad thing is that you have to pay for it again. If you wait another month or so, the Christmas honeymoon with DSLR's will be over and there will be a heap of them on eBay...a good starter DSLR is the EOS 300D/350D or the Nikon D40x..both are just brilliant for the money... 0742Sheff 25-02-2009, 23:19 I was thinking more on the lines of a 400D/450D ,Sony a200 or above, Nikon D60 I know they are all new models but they have features not found in the 300/350 model range. starmag 25-02-2009, 23:26 ah, well, if the budget permits then go for it! The D90 is also really well equipped (cue the purists who don't believe a DSLR should have live-view video...) I played with one at Focus Event on Monday and thought it would be a nice step up to the DSLR range as it has a lot of features found in compacts (i.e. the live view option on the back - face recognition)..whilst retaining all the functions of a Nikon in that range. I do find the 40x, 60, and D90 a little small for my hands though... courses for horses. 0742Sheff 25-02-2009, 23:28 Budget is non existent at the minute. It would involve me selling both the cameras i have at the minute to fund a DSLR. Maybe a kidney going in ebay as well ;) |
