As i have posted before the Kier Group Sheffield formerly Sheffield City Council are doing up Lowedges kitchens including mine.

After Several weeks of using only 2 sockets in my kitchen and awaiting tiling here is what i have had to endure:

New fitted window with a massive crack across the inside part of the UPVC window when they fitted it and I have to wait a further 4/5 weeks for a replacement.
Living on microwave meals for over 2 weeks!! which is expensive after a bit.
Only the use of 2 sockets where one is used by my fridge
My cooker is electric and is 2 seperate parts i.e the oven top and actual oven is seperate, well they have CUT the cable for the top part of the cooker so I cant boil water or use the rings for any other purpose but too look at.
My hallway carpet has been kindly destroyed by them, can they not afford dust sheets anymore?
The radiator has been left disconnected from the pipes for over 3 weeks now!
And finally, I had to go without a KITCHEN sink for a week meaning that I had to wash the pots in the BATH!!

Is this grounds for legal action against them for compensation as it has costed me a fortune in food??

Please reply

Microwaves aren't just for microwave meals. You can do loads more in them for far less cost than the "ready made" variety.

My 'speciality' is a tin of Heinz beans and sausages with a couple of warmed up sausage rolls!

Beans on toast is always a bonus too... and cheap!

Get a couple of quotes from personal-compensation-type-companies... It sounds likely that you be able to get some compensation. Mind you, I got fined for leaving rubbish bags outside my house last year. The council (Derby) claimed that it cost £135 to move 6 bin bags to the rubbish tip outside town. If they can spend that on moving bags around, they should be able to compensate you for your damaged goods...

Just keep records/photos of all catastrophes and take it up with your housing office.

Kier Group are only contractors, the council are still responsible for the Houses, unless its a housing association property

Try to find a solicitor that offers a free initial consultation - then show them your evidence and get their 'legal opinion'. I don't know of any specific companies in Sheffield, but there are loads on "Friargate" in Derby (which is the start of the westbound A52)...

I think that they hate me  due to the fact that on friday i left my house and forgot to take with me my TxT only sim card, anyway I got back at about 5pm on friday and found that my sim card was gone...no where to be seen. I have searched High and low for it and its not here !!!!

Anyway if someone out there has an old simcard preferbly on 02 but i am thinking of getting my fone unblocked anyway so if u have a sim card that you don't use no more and its active then please please could I have it, i will pay you if need be:thumbsup:

I dont see any reason that you should claim for the meals you have eaten..

you can take what is called 'section 11' action under the Housing Act, for slow action on the councils part.

I'd like to say that a Kier Group van cut across Birley Moor Road on my way home tonight forcing me and the better half to have to slam the anchors on so we didn't hit it.

Very foolish. Had we have hit your van I would be getting charged for GBH right now!

Be careful next time!

I finally recieved an email from Trading Standards, here it is:

If the Council claim that the Kier Group have sole responsibility for the kitchen renewal, then you will make them the defendant in any claim that you make. If you are unsure of their legal standing with the Council you can put 2 names on your claim forms. These, large organisations bank on the fact that most people will not submit a claim. Hopefully, you will be able to recover compensation without having to consider a legal action.

Kind Regards
