Every time i turn my computer on the little yellow shield appears in the bottom right corner for about 10 min but when i put my mouse over it to see how many % it is complete it always shows 0% any ideas?

You could turn auto updates and 'inform me' off. That's what I do. (from memory: right click the shield, properties or settings I think? uncheck auto updates, click 'how windows informs me' on left, uncheck the three options'.

You'd have to do manual updates but it means you can do them at a time that's good for you, means it doesnt interrupt you if you're busy using it.
