View Full Version : Sports Soccer shop - What's going on ??
MagicBert 23-06-2005, 21:53 Maybe someone might be able to help?
Apologies if it's been posted before, but I couldn't find it anywhere!
The Sports Soccer (Donnay) Shop on The Moor is closing soon...and the one @ Meadowhall is closing for *rebranding* (Or so my dad was told today)
Anyone know what's going on ??
Thanks!
they've been closing down every so often for years. I was told by a member of staff about 2 years ago that they had gone bankrupt
Aren't they owner by Decathalon? If they are I assume they will be rebranding to that.
(get your cheap footballs while it lasts)
I overheard one of the sales lads in there the other day and he just said it was "rebranding" and not closing down and that's why not all the stuff is reduced (most of the stuff isn't any cheaper than it usually is, despite their claims.)
I try and avoid the shop at all costs, all those chavs crammed between the clothes rails. Enough to get someone angry :)

It ain't that bad. I go in there on occasions (I'm very tight / frugal / a bit of a skinflint)
I try to be good and buy all my "knocking around the house in" clothes from there but the majority of the time I just walk out stressed.
The shop is fine, the majority of its customers are not :) plus it has a habit of making me feel very claustrophobic!
Once they had a huge sign saying everything must go...CLOTHING DOWN sale....but it is just they branding....they have only just opened the one at drakehouse I really can't see them disappearing....but hey..never say never....I could be wrong!!
:P

Yes, I agree with you on those points.
My survival trick is treating each shopping trip as a chore, rather than a pleasure.
That way, I'm in and out as quickly as possible.

Miracles can happen... sometimes.
BorisMarakas 24-06-2005, 00:31 i'd be glad if sports soccer closed on the whole its cheap stuff is garbage furthermore it is'nt a sports shop, well not aproper one as it sells items catering more so for chavs than sports players. With its dodgy trainers and wide selection of hoodies and caps:banana: :gag:  :gag:  :gag:
ormester 24-06-2005, 02:31 umbro stuff is dirt cheap in there and thats not crap clothing meadowhall s far better than the moor
youwhatref 24-06-2005, 05:46 I'm along with Norton, i get a lot of my knocking around the house stuff in there as it is very cheap. I understand the chavs part but i also they think they sell good stuff cheaper then elsewhere too as new England kits etc etc.
I'd prefer to pay £25/£30ish in there than £40 at Allsports!
Have to agree. Bought my boy some trainers from there last week. Cost £19.99. Exactly same pair were £29.99 in JJB and Allsports.
sirtommo 24-06-2005, 12:41 The chain used to be called Sport & Ski before it became Sport Soccer. It is now rebranding again to become Sports World.
Horrible shop but good for a bargain if you know what you want.
