him8, aint no expert & the tv looks fine but i'd mebbe do a little online snooping. the picture formats these days are 720p/1080i/1080p, the 1080p one being the higher spec picture, in these credit crunch days when the retailers are fallin over them selves to sell us products it might be worth trollin round the biggies' currys-dixons & suchlike! try & get a 1080p with at least 2 hdmi inputs & 2 scarts-built in freeview-blah blah. just show em your cash & haggle & you might be well pleased with what you take home.hope this helps.cheers willo. P.S. you might try looking on the digital spy forums to give you some pointers as theres some serious techies on there.

looked at the 1080 option but read a review on that site and it warned agains cos the quality would actually be worse than watchin a standard tv

Not all internet advice is good advice! On the other hand if you are mainly going to use it to watch standard TV (rather than Hi-Def) then 720P will be fine.
