View Full Version : Wednesday v Palace Match Thread. 21/02/09
Earwiggo 19-02-2009, 12:59 We're up and down like a fiddler's elbow, and Palace have had some horrendous results in the last month, and then pulled off a coupla crackers, so this has the makings of a very interesting game!
I just long for a flippin' clean sheet. 0-0 then?
looking forward to welcoming W*****k on saturday:D
has some threads been removed? just about to comment on one.
Robbie Loving 19-02-2009, 14:08 2posts have just been removed from this thread.... nothing that would have any relevance to the match topic

this game takes on more importance than it normally would now that W*****K is in charge of them , as you know he`s always welcome at Hillsbro :hihi::hihi:
i have a feeling we will raise our game for him on saturday

We definitely need to raise our game, before the players all start dropping their heads and accepting 'poor' results.
The performance we put out is all down to BL I'm afraid. He's got to get a grip on the job. There's some reason why we blow so hot and cold, and BL's GOT to get to the bottom of it.
Don't missunderstand me, I'm not attacking BL, but I could scream at times with the inconsistency we show.
Beating United is not the be all and end all, we need to 'crack on'.

pay back time on saturday hopefully
Palace have one win in the league since boxing day??, lost to some of the poorer sides in the league since then (but so have Wednesday) and should be there for the taking, your guys just need to get their confidence back.
Wednesday's goal difference says it all, -11, you'll have to tighten up cos Palace are contenders for a play off place if they win their games in hand
As to Warnock never liked the man, but at least he has some passion
coopster1974 21-02-2009, 15:46 just woke up to seany mac scoring. Lock it down boys.
Wednesday finally realise they are in a match and run out 2-0 winners. GET IN LEON!

hurstyowl 21-02-2009, 19:57 we were due some luck, late goals go in our favour for once, oh wait and the crossbar saved us for once instead of it stopping us lol.

u not go david?
CorkerSWFC 22-02-2009, 00:28 Wednesday were just as bad as Tuesday night, one thinks some of us Owls fan's need to take there blue n white tinted glasses off.
We could have easily lost 3 or 4 nowt on another day.
No point in keep thinking we were good, Tudgay was man marked, and Gray was non existant (again) look how Laws was being with Gray afterwards as if he knew he was well behind.
Panthera 22-02-2009, 00:57 never thought id say this but wednesday improved when clarke and small came on as subs, we were lucky that palace had a player on our goal line to keep out one of thier shots( hit him on the chest went back out to palace player who then headed onto crossbar), Frankie simek played really well to say how long he's been away a real plus for the owls but overall a rubbish performance both teams were as bad as each other, just incredibly gratefull for the 3 points.

Thats about the best were gonna get as far as honesty is concerned about this game, Wednesday were shocking today, Jermaine Johnson must wonder what he's got to do sometimes told fella, we havent even got a song to sing about him, that must make him think.
I don't think jj will want to stay at Hillsborough much longer he isnt treated with enough respect by fans or the club, he's probaly the best "Talent" we have got.

nice honest post, my pal who never misses said apart from the last ten minutes it was probably the worst performance of the season.
Good comment CorkerSWFC from someone who actually went to the game.
SpeedwayDan 22-02-2009, 07:24 Yeah we wasn't much better than tuesday night, but having said that, the ref had a shocker, he blew for just about everything and the only times he played advantage was when there wasn't really one to be had.
We definetly looked better when Leon came on, him and Jeffers did some nice link up play together.
All in all we gave them about 4 or 5 easy clean headers and chances to score in the first half, then we stepped it up a little in the second and run out decent winners.
Old Warnock got some stick but took it in good humour, was good to see Franky back too. Hinds had another decent game too.
Now i'm off to bed, only had around 2 hours sleep in the last 42 hours.:help:
Robbie Loving 22-02-2009, 09:43 Did Clyne (right back) play against you today? If so what did you think? He looked a very handy player when they came to the lane

whos been saying wednesday played well :loopy: everyone has said we were lucky.
CorkerSWFC 22-02-2009, 11:22 whos been saying wednesday played well :loopy: everyone has said we were lucky.
Whats with the loopy sign then?
mickdalewood 22-02-2009, 11:35 I thought that Wednesday were very poor yesterday and imo what changed the game in our favour was when the big c/b (Davis) went off, big Leon came on and he gave us a presence up front against Davis' replacement. The ball started to sick up front better (not that Clarke is the answer) but he did well his charging down of the keeper and his mis-kick into the stand led to our first goal
Thingything 22-02-2009, 11:53 whos been saying wednesday played well :loopy: everyone has said we were lucky.
i said we played well COMPARED TO TUESDAY NIGHT!!!
hurstyowl 22-02-2009, 11:54 Whats with the loopy sign then?
because your ranting about wednesday fans saying claiming that we played well, when in fact everyone has said the opposite, therefore you are loco :hihi:
i said we played well COMPARED TO TUESDAY NIGHT!!!
it wasn`t brilliant ,but anything was an improvement n last Tuesday . no ,we are not playing well at present.
hurstyowl 22-02-2009, 11:58 it wasn`t brilliant ,but anything was an improvement n last Tuesday . no ,we are not playing well at present.
we are going to pay the price next month if it continues aswell
we are going to pay the price next month if it continues aswell
definatly mate , we are playing better teams than palace over the next month- teams that will destroy us if we are poor

jj has everything in his game to play at the top ,but he is very hit and miss and needs to be more consistant .

Another on the ignore list, get a life pal.
NERVY-OWL 22-02-2009, 18:08 u not go david?
unfortunately not, always try to get to games against warnock:( not sure on clarke. from what i've seen of him he looks awful but he is second top scorer, my bro went and still rates clarke better than jeffers, still think he can only ever be a back up though

Sodje is first choice to partner Tudgay when he is fit and Leon will be back on the bench
NERVY-OWL 22-02-2009, 18:19 Sodje is first choice to partner Tudgay when he is fit and Leon will be back on the bench
yes he is but i just hope sodje can have a full season without injury, looking very injury prone at the minute.

yes ,he`s been very unlucky in the last 12 months with injury- hopefully now he is fit he can get a good run going and back to the player he was before his lay off

Thingything 22-02-2009, 20:41 so which was the better performance in your opinion hursty
Barnsley or Palace?

tough one, i would say palace, both were less than average performances and i didnt think we were ever going to score against barnsley. Showed resiliance against palace and took the chances well. Doesnt take away the fact we didnt deserve it. Which one of the two did u think?

Palace, sod the performances or if we deserved it or not, until BL gets some money to play with results are everything
NERVY-OWL 22-02-2009, 21:00 i cant see how they could play any worse than against barnsley, must of been at least a little better. your right though thingy, results are all that matter while laws hands are tied
Thingything 22-02-2009, 21:12 Just realised my last post was the 1.000 i made on here
Think i need to get out more:help:

NEKRO138 23-02-2009, 13:45 I thought both sides were pretty poor. Palace's delivery from corners was pretty decent but the makeshift defence did a good job of keeping them out. Clarke did well when he came on. Won a few corners. It wasn't pretty but the win was important.
bladebloke 23-02-2009, 18:19 robbie. thank you for removing all masked swearing reference's to sir neil for me.

it was 3 points gained by a poor performance
