Lickable 23-06-2005, 15:49 Thats a beautiful picture...
coopster1974 23-06-2005, 15:49 I'd start looking at the hub. Maybe try different ports etc. I assume your ma & pa's connections are ok?
If so try swapping the hubs around, if the problem follows to their pc's you've found the problem
thanks :) so far as i know bother my parents pc's work. Plus HELL YEAH MY PICTURES GOOD XD
sorry for double posting but ARG, i switched my hubs, moved them into diffrent holes :P still when i turn on my server the net connection just breaks its self on both pc's

When you say both pc's do you mean your ma n pa's? If yes your hub is shafted.
Check the network card in the server, it could be faulty, does the problem reoccour if you just unplug the server cable, and then replug?

alchresearch 23-06-2005, 21:11 It sounds like the server is trying to be a proxy server for the internet.
ok heh people got stuff wrong XD, my connection and my servers conenction gets broken when i turn on my SERVER :) ill try unplugging the cable :P btw i switched my hubs around so i dont think it can be them :P
Could be the server has the same IP address as the router. Is it getting its IP from DHCP or is it static?
Could be a dodgy cable, try a different cable.
one i will try chaning cables, two i dont think its using the same ip, one is 10.0.0.7 not shure what my routers is :P
double sorry posting :) changed cables still doesn't work, about this dchp thing.... im not shure what you mean, mind alaberating?
DHCP is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. It lets you assign a pool of dynamic addresses to a network of computers from a server (typically your router in a home network). If you don't know what it is you probably aren't using it :)
The default gateway (your router) usually uses the IP address *.*.*.1 (so for the example you gave as your network it should be 10.0.0.1). Double check that your server is running as 10.0.0.7, just incase change the IP to something else (10.0.0.207 for example).
Do you have a spare network card you can try? If so also try swapping the network card out in your server.
Have you run a virus scan on your server? There's a chance it may be consuming all of your available bandwidth trying to do something. This might not be anything malicious, it might be downloading updates for instance, but a virus or trojan could also cause this. Watching the router for activity should give you an idea if this is the case, if you see a lot of activity try opening a command prompt on the server and type "netstat -a", it might give you an idea of anything untoward.
kokay, dont think there can be any virus's i formatted it with win2k a few days ago i may know some one i can get a network card of off. It will be happy
wow i seem to do this alot ;) ive just realised this has only started happening since i installed sp4 for win2k on my server :P
It wont be an IP conflict as the server would show this on screen, I suggect rolling back from SP4 and seeing if it solves the issue.
