I'm thinking about joining a gym cos it would be nice to see my feet again before i go on my hols in July. I live Meadowhall / Wincobank way and want something pretty local and hopefully cheap. I have been a member of the Source and hated it.
Does anyone know if the English Institute of Sport is an good? Or Don Valley?
Any other gyms in the area worth a butchers?

Have you tried Fitness Unlimited? With their membership, you get to use 4 different leisure venues in Sheffield:
- Concord Sports Centre
- Don Valley Stadium
- Hillsborough Leisure Centre
- Ponds Forge International Sports Centre
Concord and Don Valley would probably be closest to you - but then Hillsborough wouldnt be too far away either. A Peak Membership costs £24 a month, if you join on a 12 month contract. Or if you pay one lump sum on joining, you get a 10% discount (which works out at £260 - equivilant to £5 a week). There are other memberships available too.
Have a look at the website www.fitnessunlimited.co.uk or you can call them on 0114 2233419 (I'm sure they'll be happy to give you a tour of the facilities)
Good luck with the search
I use don valley gym.
They refurbed it last year with new equipment. Looks really nice - staff are great there too!

Don Valley is good as you get the choice of using 1 of 4 gyms in Sheffield. They just refurbished the gym last year. EISS has newer change rooms and facilities hence the slighter higher price. DVS = really good value and choice; EISS = if you like you're luxuries in my experience.

Try Hillsborough Leisure Centre - I'm sure they've been voted the best leisure centre in the country for the last couple of years.
I have just drove past EISS today and they have a big advert outside for the gym.
It looks like they have cut their prices, might be worth a look?
