Ally68 23-06-2005, 11:39 oops, must get my eyes tested! I read Hollywood! Can't help you on either counts unfortunately! owdlad 28-06-2005, 16:48 is that Hollingwood at Chesterfield ? muddycoffee 28-06-2005, 17:05 Hollingwood is near staveley, It has a sheffield postcode, but is in North east Derbyshire and about half an hour's drive to the sheffield border in the rush hour. Staveley has a large foundry and industrial area, a huge chemical factory and not particularly desirable, all properties within a couple of miles have emergency chemical leak procedures, but I used to work in the district and we had our Company meetings in the hollingwood pub, and I have stayed at mates houses nearby. The people of these areas are lovely people and I would be happy to live there myself. And there is some very nice property there but it tends to be cheap because the area is. Watch out for council tax rates, I think you might find them extremely high.. It is close to countryside and open fields, and while the area had large coal mines 25 years ago, the air is much cleaner these days and much better quality than sheffield. And excellent access to the M1 junction 30. And the local pubs are great. NicoleM 28-06-2005, 17:59 I used to live in Hollingwood when I was a little lassie. It's not too bad but I wouldn't go back to live there. It has its fair share of ruffians like anywhere but I wouldn't like to live near Staveley works. If you are looking around that area, you are better off about a mile away in Inkersall which is where I lived for most of the time with my parents (circa 14years). If you want any info, send me a PM and I will be happy to help. Jack_n_Vera 29-06-2005, 07:21 Many thanks - will keep on looking....a little closer to Sheffield!:| sahmraw 07-07-2005, 05:30 Originally posted by NicoleM I used to live in Hollingwood when I was a little lassie. I live in Bolsover, and have acquaintances in In kersall, it has as many drug problems and ruffians as the rest of Stavely now. Would got for Eckington. Jack_n_Vera 07-07-2005, 07:24 That's good to hear, by coinsidence that is where we are going for! sahmraw 07-07-2005, 07:39  I like it there and close enough to communte to Sheffield. Unfortunately Derbyshire LEA is awful for SEN and bullying in schools is never dealt with. Hence the desperate move for us to get across the border....into South Yorks Jack_n_Vera 07-07-2005, 07:47 Not so good to hear - Think we're still in the catchment area for Hallam diosese so hoping to avoid that! Where abouts are you moving from? ear8dmg 08-07-2005, 16:35 I have a colleague who lives in Brimington and he warned me off Hollingwood, which isn't too far away. Apparrently it's one of Chesterfield's less pleasant areas. Funny thing was I went for a look around and though it looked quite nice. A little local knowledge can be very helpful! |
