Hi

we clean his ears and look after him well, but this head shaking is getting annoying.
it carnt be good for him either, does anybody have any ideas what could be wrong thanks

it could be ear mites???

I havent had a dog with them but one of my cats had a very severe case when we got him and even though i couldnt see anything in his ear they were very deep down - he had to have them thoroughly flushed out and cleaned under sedation. just a guess though i would get a vet to check it out.

my GSD used to do this after running in long grass the seeds got into his ears although this is unlikely with the weather just recently

is that because they haven't been treated at all nikki?

I agree, get to your vet - when you clean your dog's ears, you can't get all the way down because the canal sort of meanders in the other direction. A vet will need to sort it for you and ears are one of those things that you just don't take risks with.

Good luck

Hi yes her ears had had no treatment at all i did try cleaning them but as stated by lotti you cant clean far enough down the ear and should not attemp it or you will hurt your dog she had to have tablets and ear drops hope this helps o and y the way my dog has shar pei in her so mite be the same thing.

Get to the vets.It could be mites, earwax, grass stalk or anything.
One of my old dogs did it when he had stroke.
