thinking of moving from tinsley to woodhouse on the sevenside estate.could any one please give me any info what the area is like is there loads of chavs about and does it have any shops close by and good bus routes to the city centre.

I'll try to be diplomatic.

Severnside is considered by many to be the roughest estate in Woodhouse. I dropped a friend off there last week and I passed three seperate gangs of kids in groups of seven or eight, loitering around. I know of a couple of notorious families that live on there. Someone once told me that the further down the estate you go (towards the woods) the rougher it gets, but I can't comment on that.

Plenty of shops (including mine) 5 minutes walk up the hill in Woodhouse village (Co-op x 2, Costcutter, sarnie shop, computer/mobile shop, chemists x 2, fruit shop, butchers, sweetie shop, carpet shop, opticians), a couple of friendly tramps, a couple of chippies, a restaurant, plenty of pubs nearby, and a reasonable bus service down Stradbroke Road. Crystal Peaks is about ten minutes away by bus.

I suppose it depends on where you're moving from. But yes, if you dislike chavs, you'll not like many of your neighbours.

does anyone else have a comment to make about the sevenside estate in woodhouse s13.

Woodhouse in the main is a pleasant place to live , spoiled only by Severnside and the Badger.
What you have to bear in mind is that although people on these estates are branded, the majority of the people that live there are law abiding and decent.
The general area around Severnside however is much pleasanter and greener than Tinsley. and Woodhouse itself is fine.
Also the Cardwell Estate next door is private and expensive..
I think in your circumstances and in line with previous comments it would depend on the situation of the individual property and its neighbours
With the trouble that there has been in the past around Tinsley its a close call

IMO its an absolute hole. And i used to live on there.

Oh yes....the centre of Woodhouse is populated mainly by grey haired geriatrics!
