I attended a 21st birthday party last year in the basement area you mentioned, so as of about a year ago that bit was still being used. Don't know about the other stuff though as I don't use the place.

When we used to go there in the 70`s the disco was upstairs. We also attended a friends wedding reception there. It was a great place to go, we lived at Norton Lees at the time and thought nothing of going all the way there for a night out.

I worked behind the bar from 1989 to around 1994 and had a great time with the staff and punters. The disco downstairs did start up again, but had to end due to complaints about trouble in the car park and noise. There was always a fight on a Friday and Saturday and guaranteed on a bank holiday. I certainly saw a lot of blood and broken glasses in my time there.:o

I knew a lot of the regulars and used to drink in there too. It went downhill when it became Joesph Glover and Julie and Frank left.

I called in about two weeks ago on a Saturday night and there were only 4 people in. There was only one room open. I went in the Mill the first week it opened. It seems to be going the same way as all the other pubs in Sheffield

Main problem it's got is that it's off the beaten track. It was probably successful in it's heyday because it had something to draw the punters in. Now it's just becoming another statistic in the demise of the pub trade.

As predicted, it's been closed for a couple of years now.

Pm'd a few of you on this. My friend and I are doing a research project on the mill and life there in the 70s from a social history standpoint. Would absolutely love to talk to people who went there. What did you wear, what music did you listen to, what did you drink? Rammed in the disco like sardines?!! Did you know a barman called Chris Walton? Do you have any photos or reminiscences? If so PM me or email Cathy on Catherine.earnshaw@hotmail.co.uk
