Most high st banks and travel agents can do that for you.

You may want to shop about to get a commission free offer...there usually is some out there.

If you want to do it online HSBC offer a free exchange (http://www.hsbc.co.uk/1/2/personal/more/travel-personal) here!!

:P

Co-Op travel at Chapletown always seem to have a slightly better rate than others when I want Euros and other currency

I've found them to be excellent with best exchange rates and often free transactions.

I'd second that (M&S), allways got a little bit more for your money when I have looked.

Thanks for all your help - I though M&S was supposed to be good, but wasn't sure if the Sheffield store had a Bureau de Change.

Just take a little bit with you. Best exchange rate is using a maestro card in a bank abroad. They do charge you £1.50 to get at your money, though, but if you pull out more than about £40 you will be better off.

Last time I went round comparing rates I spent a couple of hours going round all the different travel agents only to find I got the best rates just by going to my own bank to get it commission free :) Didn't know about M&S doing it though, will try that next time... Although I'd second the "just get cash out over there" approach.

Why you wanna change money? You going somewhere nice? Might be just as easy to use the cash machines when you get there? (i do this as too disorganised to change money before i go...)

I've found the post office to be one of the best places for foreign money, although tbh I agree with the people above its probably best just to use your maestro card in Europe :)

that said when I was in Africa the rates on a mastercard etc were pretty damn good too, sometimes its not worth taking loads of cash... travellers cheques and credit cards are great things :D
