I have aquired a toyota knitting machine.

I would like to make basic round neck sweaters for myself and the missus(if she'll wear one).

I like chunky knitwear and was wondering how i went about making a sweater that fitted correctly. How would i know how many stitchers wide i should make things, and how many rows to do? how about the neck, how many stitchers do i reduce to make it fit?

Are there any websites i could learn from.

Also, i know its cheeky but has anyone got any spare wool for me to practace with, even if it is as a sweater(i could unravel it).

Many thx Ian

Unless the knitting machine is specifically called a chunky trying to knit anything above 4ply will be tricky. Using used yarn as well will make it difficult you really need coned yarn for machine knitting. Sheffield knitting and sewing shop have some cheap acrylic on cones they are on Attercliffe Common. Also have a look on Ebay. I haven't looked for a pattern but I think they should be relative easily found on the net. If you PM me I'll type one out. A drop shoulder with an cut and sew neck will probably be the easist to start with. Getting to grips with a knitting machine aint easy. Good Luck
