as a blade i backed warnock, even though sometimes he went over the top.
but wednesday fans used to hate him with a vengence, i always thought this was mainly to do with him being red + white.
but i think now it was alot to do with his little comments and digs at wednesday when he could.
which brings me to laws, he's doing it!
always seems to be havin a little nibble, on rad sheff talking about tudguys new contract talks he got in "which is nothing to do with his winning goal against sheffield united" the s**t!! i dont need reminding....
must admit no other owls boss winds me up more than him..
i can now see why wednesday fans hated warnock so much!!!

Not really noticed to be honest, dont take much notice.. Dont hate him any more or any less than any other Wendy manager.

never really bothered me apart from the hillsbro derby. was jumping up and down over the killgallan challenge helping to make the refs mind up. then being interviewed after saying it was nothing more than a yellow. but for me ron atkinson is the one that wound me up but more with man u than wendy.

wendy have had some of the most dull managers in the league, wilkinson, pleat, turner, sturrock and now laws. think were going down that road with robson and blackwell. give me a bassett or a warnock anyday.

I liked Warnock and still do.
I'm an Owl through and through, but I would have played my guts out for Warnock. He's got what it takes.
Trouble is, I'd never sign for United, so it would have had to have been at one of his other clubs.
Yes Warnock moaned a lot, and mentioned his dislike for Wednesday a bit, but that dunt make him a bad manager.
I don't hear Laws having a pop at United much, only just before, or just after a derby. Blackclock does it an'all as it's all part of the game.
The good thing is, Laws can manage a team and Blackclock can't.
I've thought this for some time and a good few Blades are saying it now on here.
I hope you keep him for some time, but I'll not hold my breath! :)

bassett and warnock put a lot of years in between them. they will never be short of tv work. hav'nt seen atkinson on the box for a bit. what ever happened to him. :)

Warnock had respect for Wednesday though. I remember him saying Wednesday fans would turn up to watch the grass grow at Hillsborough - you could take that two ways though:hihi:. He admitted to going to watch Wednesday in his younger days. Of course he was going to give us a few digs, like any Wednesday fan would to the blades.

Warnock is a decent bloke and likeable, just shouldn't blame the refs all the time:hihi:. Blackwell is just plain annoying.

I think Blackwell is much more prolific with putting in those little digs and comments. It's like he's trying to prove to Unitedites that he's one of them by badmouthing Wednesday every time he's on the radio (or so it seems sometimes).

Warnock did the same thing but at least Warnock was funny. Blackwell just comes across like a stroppy teenager.

I've known Neil for well over 40 years, I first met him when he was a kid at Chesterfield FC, I've played in the odd friendly with him, he was a good lad. All this Sheffield United fanatical supporter stuff wasn't evident at the time, he was too busy playing for other clubs.

I didn't see him for many years and then came into contact with him and his first wife when he was manager of Scarborough. He was supplementing his earnings by running a chiropody practice in Tinsley and helping his then wife and mother in law run a fruit and veg shop in Nether Edge. I also remember arranging a meet with him when he brought his Notts County side to Hillsborough.

I didn't come in contact with him again until he took over at the lane, we regulally bumped into each other (sometimes literally) pushing our respective trolleys around Tesco on Abbeydale Road, he had a house across the road on the Holt House site. I was always amused by the amount of Tesco Finest ready cooked meals he had in his trolley, I once said to him "You'll turn into one of those given time", he replied "Better than starving to death crookesey, what with my crap cooking".

Neil reinvented himself as Mr Nasty, he isn't really like that at all. He is a very bright bloke and soon realised that he wasn't going to be an Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger, he needed an edge and his touch line antics and fiery interviews gave it him.

He always wanted to be brought up to date with what the lads who we knocked about with in the 1960's were up to. The grief that showed on his face when I gave him the names of the fatalities was nothing but genuine. Yes he's got everyone fooled, the clever little bugger.

I always disliked the way he sniped at Wendesday.

And I sang about him being illigitimate (at Hillsborough, the lane, and even at Selhurst Park).

But he was a damn good manager for getting the best out of the ordinary (no dig intended).

And if I remember rightly, there were far more blades than Owls slagging him of on phone ins in his last season.

i know how you feel about him dancing on our pitch - I loved Laws doing it last Saturday on yours. :hihi:

(And even if I wasn't there etc. I still loved him doing it :hihi:)

Oh no no no no no!!!!!!!!

You can't say that!!

Yes, the blades used to slag Warnock off on Praise or Grumble, but really they loved him so it was ok and if we slagged him off (as we are entitled to) then we should be criticised for it later on.

And yes they slag off Blackwell, but you just aren't allowed to mention it.

And don't even think about suggesting how the blades fans should act towards their manager.

How dare you point out how fickle they are!! :hihi:
