I finally got my Wii in EDTV and was a real battle to get there.

I'd bought 2 3rd party cables costing me around £12 inc. postage that were suppose to work, They didn't even get a screen flicker.
I followed loads of guides even a few of this forum to get it working, I rammed home the leads, just connected the green, bent the wires, used splitters..... list endless and nothing worked.

So i bought a set of genuine Wii component cables from Play.com, All i did was plug them in the Wii and turned it on and Abracadabra a picture was before my eyes in full colour !!!!

So lessons from this tale is : it pays to buy genuine if you want a cheaper and stress free life :hihi::hihi:

I can't believe the trouble you've had but glad you're sorted. I bought a third party for a fiver off ebay - worked instantly and there is a definite improvement especially HoD 3.

Yeh i was proper like thinking the Wii was faulty or summat as it's like just a wire ???

I guess the ones on eBay are made by the million and a few have to be faulty in some way shape or form.

ive had 2 sets of logic 3 ones at 15 quid a pop, and both have been fine. Only had to replace the first one when burglars dragged it through a broken window and cut it in half

Oooh :o

Thats harsh.

My cheapo one from america worked fine first time and gave a massive improvement in picture quality. Mario Kart seems soooooo crisp now :)

It isn't, that's why I prefer my 360, full HD.

If I thought I'd get anywhere near what it's worth, I'd consider selling my Wii to be honest, as I haven't used it in months.

It isnt, it has a max output of 480p, but only through component connections.

but that being said , the difference when using the cables is stunning no doubt about it.

As i kind of add on to this post. My wii goes through line 3 on my dvd/hdd sony player. This in turn is connected to my HD TV via component cables ( RGB ). and phono for the sound. The Tv indicates the signal is now 560p or 560i depending on the setting i put recorder into. So does this mean its better than the Wii to tv by component leads 480p ??

What connections do you have from the wii to the dvd? Unless youre using the component output on the wii, it wont output more than 480p, but if your recorder is showing 560p it must be upscaling it. Its not actually better than the wiis native output, but it takes the 480p, upscales it to 560p, and sort of 'guesses' the missing pixels to smooth the image, AFAIK

Wii to DVD recorder, is via the standard lead supplied with the Wii. I understand what you mean about about it upscaling the Wii's output signal, but its still a cracking picture. Which ever way you look at it. Who cares if the 360 is full HD.....I never PMSL playing a 360 game. But not getting into the " My consoles better than your console," debate.
