Oh I'm going to have to think. The only ones I can think of at the moment are the typical chick flicks - city of angels, pearl harbour and titanic. I'm sure I can think of others.

The wrestler has this sadness that runs right through it. I don't know how it could fail to get you really. And the Bruce Springsteen song which was written for the character. But Springsteen's voice always makes me feel sad!

Although it's not my favourite Kitano film (that would be Hana Bi), the ending to Sonatine never fails to break my heart every time I watch it.

Oh the best sad ending has to be Love Story. I start crying before the end now, because I know what's coming.

It's embarrassing when you go to the cinema and the sad bit is right at the end though. The lights come up and you're still crying.

I am Legend was the last film that made me cry buckets (I had to compose myself before driving home!) but seven pounds came close last week. Damn you Will Smith!!!

Why does Will Smith have this power over us all? Hitch is a real tear jerker. :hihi:

The saddest music ending a film has to be from "The Last Snows of Spring".

I believe it was from the seventies. I have no idea what the music is but it's a real tear jerker.

Nobody left that cinema without red or running eyes.

'Ghost' was a right tearjerker, I was sobbing (quite loudly) in the cinema, much to the embarrassment of my then boyfriend.

Armageddon. Every time.

Harry Stamper: Grace, I know I promised you I was coming home. Looks like I'm gonna have to break that promise.

Juno. Every time.

The Wrestler. Twice so far!

I'm such a girl! Lol. Does anyone else cry in the cinema then?

Titanic. The tears come right at the beginning for me, then lots of times throughout and at the end. The first time I saw it at the cinema back in 1997 I was sobbing uncontrollably and went on to see it 12.. yes TWELVE more times at the cinema and nuerous times on VHS/DVD (just gone off now actually having not seen it for a year or more).

The Green Mile and Marley and Me. I had a Labrador like Marley and that made matters worse. When I watched it I was in Hong Kong. They were all crying bucket fulls which surprised me as I thought Labrador was a delicacy over there.

A few songs have done it for me ... No Regrets, by the Walker Brothers; I Don't Like Mondays, by the Boomtown Rats; The Living Years, by Mike and the Mechanics; Send in the Clowns, by Judy Collins; and Artificial Flowers by the Beautiful South have all brought me to tears at some point. The impact of songs tends to fade, though.

Not many films have managed it. Two that did, both ended with a Louis Armstrong film; Twelve Monkeys, and the Bond film with the useless Aussie actor playing Bond. It would have been a cracking film if he hadn't been in it, and the ending still has great emotional power for me despite him.

films that always bring a tear to my eye include :-

Shawshank Redemption (sad tears for brookes, and happy tears when andy is finally free, and also when red finds him)
The Green Mile - i cry bucketloads everytime i watch this
The pursuit of happyness -
7 Pounds - i blubbed like anything when i watched this. I want to blame the fact i was halfway through a 24 hour flight , however i think if i watch this again i would still blub.
Ghost - always makes me blub

Empire of the Sun - where young Christian Bale stands amongst other kids being reunited with their parents freshly returned from exile, when his parents walk by him, then realise it is their son.

Very powerful (IMHO), and with 20/20 hindsight, quite a good indication of the stuff to come from Bale in his later years.

I can't watch 'The Boy in Stripped Pyjamas' - even discussing it with my daughter who has seen it was harrowing. I can't watch 'Sophie's Choice' for the same reason. I love the end of 'Billy Elliott', it's awesome when Billy leaps onto the stage and the film suddenly ends. So many films have great/sad endings and I usually cry at most films but I think my vote goes to 2 Clint Eastwood films - 'Million Dollar Baby' and 'Gran Torino'. I also put in a vote for 2 Charlton Heston classics 'Soylent Green' and 'Planet of the Apes'. Have watched them 100s of times since but the 1st time I saw the endings as a teenager was amazing.

Grave of the Fireflies, a Japanese animation, but don't underestimate how sad it is.

House of Sand and Fog, it is very unclear who was right and who was wrong.

Spanish film the Orphange, the ending is unbearably sad.

Apparently New line cinema has bought the rights for an American remake..I wished they would leave foreign horror films alone.
