torts are one of the few types of reps i have never kept, but isnt it bad for them to be kept in vivs? esp long term? its what the tort breeders i speak to say etc

not really depends on the set up in our house its freezing with the heating on and an open top isn't keeping her warm enough Ive sat down with a breeder who says it would be in the tortoises best interests to keep her in a viv till she is older she is only 2 and to young to hibernate( her species anyway ) she tried to go into hibernation and we had to get her out of it now she is in the viv the temp is what it should be so i believe she is better off at the moment

yes it is controversial but in all reptile shops where do they keep them?

i know one that keeps them on a table, another in a viv thats locked, otherwise the get nicked in seconds, and they turn them around fast...

like i said, never kept them, but it always gets brought up

Vivs are ok as long as they have plenty of ventilation.

i would agree on that, but what i do know about them, the average viv from a shop, is fine for a BD etc ventilation wise etc, but always told not for a Tort...why i dont know as i never kept them.
