View Full Version : Sheff Utd are not going up
sheffieldfox 17-11-2003, 23:06 Ive been to see three sheffield united games at bramall lane since i arrived at uni and im afraid to say that they are not good enough to go up, well if i keep going anyway. There have been 5 home games for them since ive been here, the three i went to they have lost, 2-0 qpr, 1-0 sunderland and 2-1 reading and the two i havent been to they have won. Im not a fan of sheff utd at all and have really enjoyed seeing them lose. I believe these are the only 3 games they have lost at home all season, surely that is evidence enough i am a jinx???

Well stay away then :?
Agent Gypo 20-11-2003, 15:24 Interesting how you can predict whether a team will achieve promotion on the basis of 3 games during a spell of injuries to key players.

yeah my thoughts exactly
sheffieldfox 03-12-2003, 03:12 every team has to cope with injuries to key players. If you can't play every time brown, jagielka or tonge is out for example, then you don't deserve to go up. Brown in my opinion looked very poor in the two out of the 3 games he played in, although tonge and jagielka looked very good, especially jagielka. the reading game was a bit of a smash-and-grab raid, but the sunderland and qpr games were pretty poor.
fnkysknky 03-12-2003, 13:55 Brown has only played 11 out of 20 league games this season due to injury. Both Jagielka and Tonge have played all 20 league games this season. Being that we are 3rd and only 3 points of the top how did you come to the above conclusion?
sexyjags 04-12-2003, 14:39 sheffieldfox,
wot is the point cuming to sheff utd games if ur not a fan! wot do ya do wen the other team scores? And u cannot decide whether sheff utd r going up to the premiership (i hope they do) or not on just watching three games!! U cant be a true fan to wot ever nobhed team u support!! U r the biggest prik in the world, u dont know ought about football, u should be a piggy fan (sheff wed) if u wanna see a teamk noit go up but go down!! Now they r a **** team if ive ever seen 1!!!

Brown has looked poor all season due to his injuries and the fact that he probably wont be with us for much longer. You obviously didn't pay much attention to the matches or you would have noticed Tonge and Jagielka didn't exactly have storming games.
It's the sign of a good side when a team is second in the league despite injuries and average performances. Just wait until we start playing well...
major decker 10-12-2003, 14:20 I don't really care for if they go up or not..if they do it is cause they have deserved it and fair enough..personally I think the Premier league can do without another hoof it and run long ball team with not enough money or potential to make an impact...and an disrespectful idiot for a manager....I guess we'll find out soon enough
fnkysknky 10-12-2003, 15:35 No potential to make an impact, we proved last season we are capable of taking on and beating Premiership opposition.
sheffieldfox 11-12-2003, 03:35 hey everyone, i'm sorry for causing so much offence. yes i did go a bit over the top saying you're not going up based on three games but it was only intended as a joke. No brainless individual would seriously make an assumption like that based on three games.
In response to an earlier reply, I go to the games as a neutral because I am a very big football fan and I really enjoy going to watch matches. You shouldn't really be complaining as it does get sheffield utd more revenue when students like me do go to the games. If i was backing anyone at the games, it would be the away team because im not the biggest fan of neil warnock at all but i do applaud the sheff utd goals as a neutral as I do the away team. Its not as if i'm taking the seat of a fan either as none of the games i have been to have been filled near capacity anyway.
i think your new ground is the buisness mate..very impressed i was.....
sheffieldfox 02-01-2004, 00:30 thanks for that, its a pleasure to go and watch football there every week. i'm off to the city of manchester stadium this saturday for our fa cup game away at man city. It will be interesting to compare the two.

Hoof & run? Clearly you don't go to Bramall Lane very often. That's not to say we don't play the long ball .. Utd under Warnock have developed a reputation as a fine passing side who can adapt their game as & when it's required.
As for Warnock being a disrepectful idiot I've never seen or heard him pass derogatory public comments about another persons character or personality .. unlike you!
Sheffieldfox .. shame you didn't visit Bramall Lane last year when YOUR team played. Foxes lost 2-1 BTW.
;)
Pete1024 02-01-2004, 20:33 Sheffield United:
A good team that work well under pressure, when not under pressure they work quite poorly at times and hence usually win in the last 10 mins.
They work best at home and find away games more difficult but usually still pull through.
Promotion last season would have killed the club financially perhaps it was good that they did not get promoted.
it may sound like sour grapes but i wasn't really botherd when we didn't go up,i personelly think the premiership and sky tv have killed off the working class game of football...the prem is full of foreign over payed players, plastic faceless stadia and stuck up plastic supporters.....unfortunatley the old days will never return....monday night kick offs....5.35pm kick offs....b***cks
:( :(

I did go to the sheff utd game at bramall lane last season escafeld. I really enjoyed it until the 6th minute of stoppage time. It didn't matter at that stage tho cos we were up. Served u right now going up really cos of the arrogance of your announcer saying at the end 'oh and leicester fans, see you next year'.

oh dear.......gary sinclaire is a bit of a p***k though we all arnt like that
Why do people who know absolutely nothing about football insist on posting stupid comments?
> sheffield united are a hoof it and run team
> getting promoted would cripple them financially
> they won't get promoted as they lost two league matches
If you don't know what you are talking about - why bother?
Agent Gypo 16-01-2004, 14:38 We have been playing in 2nd gear for much of this season, with the exception of 3 or 4 games.
However, we are 3rd in the league with a game in hand (winning puts us 2nd) and through to the next round of the FA Cup.
Promotion quality teams don't usually turn it on until the second half of the season anyway.
Even if we don't go up I'll be proud to be a Blade. Things could be far worse. We could be wearing blue and white and have Chris Turner for manager...
I belive Norwich will burn up later in the season and it will be down to us and WBA for the title. I went to 90% of all games last season and although we haven't played our best football this season we are a lot closer to the top 2 than this time last year.
Anyone off to the West ham game? 3 lane old boys in the squad, should make for good football!
Well it certainly was an interesting game on Sat!
A wonder goal from Harley and two defensive errors allowed W/ham in, another goal for pesch, one for jags (even if he didn't have the best of games) and a good start for Paul Shaw for the blades.
Even with all the troubles they had early on this season West ham do have a premiership quality side, so to play against a team like that as we did and come out with a draw shows we have what it takes to get in the top two and go up!
sheffieldfox 10-02-2004, 14:57 just want to ask from a neutral point of view why has sheffield united's form suddenly dipped so much? It appears to have co-incided with the departure of Michael Brown even though he wasn't that good for you earlier in the season. Who has replaced him in that holding midfield role?
why are piggies so easy to wind up???...there's no punchline..its just fact...good luck in the play-offs
And I wish no luck to the owls in in their div 2 relegation battle, can't wait for donny to overtake you.
