Toby Foster was asking for extra's to be in a film that is to be filmed in Sheffield and rumoured to be staring Johnny Depp. Does anyone know what the film is called / about?

I think it's 'Pirates of the Caribbean - part 2, The Lost Emerald of Sheffield'.

Last I heard Johnny Depp was in talks with Sheffield City Council to try and get filming rights to the Shiregreen & Parson Cross area. The Pirates will be wearing the new futuristic Burberry caps rather than hats and white, baggy tracksuits and hoodies.

The treasure - the lost emerald will be on a ring on 'Andy's' hand - Andy is the king of Chavingham in Chavchester. He and his bad-ass posse of bandit's and pirates will be selling illegal copies of DVD's when J.Depp comes across them.

Thats the main jist of what I've heard but it's not gone through just yet. The casting director was overwhelmed by how many pirate chavs came for auditions and has had to cancel proceedings for a week or two as most of the filming equipment also went missing at this time.

"Addict" is the film, it's about Steve Smiths life battling drug addiction, and they are filming parts of it in shirecliffe. They are looking for locals to be extras. You get fifty quid a day, and your dinner. Call Giles Davies for info: 020 782 31215.

Depends what the story is and the angle that the director etc approaches it from.

Could be viewed as very positive.

According to IMDB.com Andy Serkis is lined up as director. He was the voice of Gollum wasn't he?

Toby, you'd have been good as a Hobbit. It would've saved them the cost of the makeup as well...;)

Summat to do with Gollum, definitely. Very good actor - great as record producer Martin Hannet in 24 Hour Party People. And I remember seeing him a very long time ago as the MC in Cabaret at The Crucible - he was very sinister indeed! Didn't know he was a director too though.

I remember he was a guest on Five Live a couple of years ago. He was very good fun and agreed to read the travel report as Gollum. "Master there is much traffic on the Hanger Lane Gyratory my precious..." :D

I've read the book, most of it is based around London. Perhaps they are using locations around the UK to film rather than them being part of the actual story.

When is this being filmed please ?

So what's happening with this then?
Where can we go to look at being an extra?

I moved from shirecliffe 4m ago affter 6ys liveing there and nothing happend exciting.now this is going to happen jeez i always miss the fun.but with most of the roads being demolition houses on them it does look like a good place to film this kind of thing as it looks very run down.

:help: Hey, anyone mind posting some serious details about this Johnny Depp film as I'd like to find out how to get involved in being an extra and all!!
