Have you thought about a headcollar for him? I've got a French Mastiff, about 9 stone he is now I think and there's no way i'd get any more control over him with a harness than a regular lead and collar (i've tried a harness on him). I use a dogmatic for mine and you wouldn't know you had a dog on the end of the lead.

you will find the harness worse as he will pull you with all his body weight like a sleigh , i have 5 mastiffs

What type of thing were you looking for?

We do lots of different harness in Bull Mastiff sizes including fleece ones and leather and brass ones in body harnesses.

Ain't that the truth! My dog is a Heinz 57 and only weighs a couple of stone or so, but when he's on his extending lead and harness, he can't half drag me along in the park! I use a Canny Collar and a short lead when he's pavement walking, to get him to heel, it gives me far more control of him.

i agree the same for pavement walks, try walking a 76k dog on a harness no chance although with the snow and a sledge i dont know haha

Are you thinking of a Walkezee harness? I'm not sure exactly how they differ from other harnesses, but I'm reliably informed by Lotti that they do.

Other harnesses just even out the load from the lead on the dog's body making it easier for them to pull you along if they have the body weight or strength to do it.

I haven't used a Walkezee harness with Molly and found the harnesses that we have tried (mostly for wearing her seat belt in the car) more or less useless for control because she can still face away from me and pay attention to something else instead.

We've had great results with a Dogmatics head collar BTW. She hates it but when it's brought out of the bag she's good as gold to avoid going into it.

I have tried everything for my 2 and they still manage to pull a little particularly Kira :suspect: the Walkezee harness was quite good but I am not sure that you would get one big enough, ordinary harness I would forget it, it will make no difference at all.

The best result I have had has been the Halti and the Dogmatic, not tried the Canny collar, I prefer the Dogmatic out of them all as they are just about impossible for the dog to get off, you can also get them in different designs and buy a matching collar and lead if you want to.

No, it's designed slightly different. I have tried haltis, gentle leaders, canny collars and anti pull harnesses before with little or no effect. Found the dogmatic, was a bit unsure whether or not it would work at first, ordered one and found it was fantastic. All 3 of my dogs wear them now, can't recommend them enough. I've got 2 spaniels - they could quite easily pull you all over the place in a harness, my mastiff doesn't pull but if he sees something that he likes the look of, there's no way that I'd be able to hold him back without the dogmatic on - he's nearly as heavy as me and still growing! :hihi:

also forgot to add it depends how flat faced your mastiff is some of mine and the frenchies couldnt even wear a halti as they have no snout to put it on so worth trying it out in shop before you buy if your considering one of these

You need to get a halti for the face they are great! They take a while to get used to but be persistent dont let them win. It doesnt hurt them at all and they can still eat and drink whilst wearing them. I have one for my Bullie and i swear by it!!
