stevesheff08 09-02-2009, 19:33 i just got a sky+box off someone on here and ive set it all up and it works great but only thing is that...when i try and record it comes up with to use this feature you need to upgrade you subscription.....and call this number ect..im just wondering as we have only the normal sky box and have just got the sky+ box would there be a charge for upgrading our subscription ?? so we can record programmes ect ??
and do you have to pay for recording programmes ect?
reply on thread please thank you v much:thumbsup:
SYorksDeano 09-02-2009, 19:35 You don't have to pay for recordings. However I'm not sure about a second hand box. Best thing, and only thing to do really is ring Sky and "enquire". You would need to ring Sky anyway to get your viewing card to work in the box otherwise you wouldn't get all the channels
jibbs1977 09-02-2009, 19:37 You need new dish etc for sky+ the basic sky dish wont work for what your wanting. So the sky+ box bassically would be your spare cos you would get a new one when you upgrade. But if your not bothered about pausing and recording you can still use the sky+ box I think and will work fine.
Temptressuk 09-02-2009, 19:39 you need 2 input signals and you need to call sky to activate it it wont cast anything more

they dont need a new sky dish at all i have 2 sky plus boxes and one normal box all you need to do is change the lnb so it has enough output connections i e 2 connections for a sky plus

I think you do have to pay for Sky+ recording functionality.
Either £10 pm if you are an existing customer or a minimum subscription to a 'Mix' tariff (min £17?) if you are a new customer.
Don't forget, without twin feeds from your dish (do you have two cables going into the box from the dish?), you will not be able to record one channel and watch another.

OK, that answers it then. You need to be on minimum priced Mix tariff to get the Sky+ functionality.
Waiting for Temptresses answer, but almost certanly she pays minimum Mix tariff, so get's it for 'free' this way.

Make sure ofcourse you don't make the same mistake as my brother in law.
He negotiated a fine package with Sky after threatening to leave for Virgin.
Just as the deal was to be signed the Sky rep checked Virgin AVAILABILITY in his post code area. Guess what.......

Then I think it should work. As someone else said, it may be your card needs to be synched up with the box. Sky will do this for you.
