Me and my boyfriend are absoloutly fed up with estate agents - especially their rediculous fee that they charge for doing basically nothing for us!
We are currently considering using one of these private property websites, but we only know of 2roost in sheffield, but they only let you advertise on their own website, so i dont know if it would take even longer to sell.
We have come accross a website called sell4less.co.uk that we saw advertised in our free local paper who would advertise our home on fish4homes and propertyfinder and supply a for sale board and printed brochures, so this seems more like a complete service that you get with estate agents.
Has anyone else got any comments on selling your home privately or would you suggest to stick with the traditional way of doing things and pay the cost?????

Thanks

Is this for real, as i would have thought 2roost would be better as its established, or is it an eleborate way of advertising?

However, if you are wanting to sell quicker on one day - have you considered auctioning the property. Im pretty sure 2roost would advertise on their site, and have NO restrictions on you advertising elsewhere (ie. findit, etc), with no handcuff sales contracts.

Ive sold one of my properties through an auction before, they still charged me about 2% (£3000). Always considered auctions to be aimed more at investors (which is ok for me).
Ive found sell4less's site - never heard of them before, must have just started up as they dont seem to have any properties as yet, but everyone has to start somewhere.
Their service seems to be pretty good as you previously mentioned, they advertise your property on fish4homes which is a huge website with hundreds of thousands of properties on there, I think a lot of estate agents use them, so if you decide to go with them you should get quite a lot of exposure.
Being a developer I find these kind of services very interesting and I am considering going down the private route next time, has to be the way forward.

If you do try them out, you'll have to tell us what you think of them!

Hi Scratty, we are the only private selling option that give you a person!
We can personally visit you at home, give you market appraisal, and do your advert, we also use the property guide, local magazines, you can have your property on our flyers, we do ten thousand a month and distribute these wherever suitable, you can have a virtual tour.
The strongest selling tool is a house priced at a realistic selling price and the for sale board.
Give us a call, we too are going to be using Fish4homes, just waiting for them to sort it out.
We have now had over a hundred properties on our books and are out selling estate agents in some parts of sheff, what more can I say to encourage you?
The other internet based companies do not give you the option of a personal service as we do, no other company in the UK offers what we do for the price.
Finally we are about to take a high Street presence too....

scratty and malb1, do you think that you could have the discussion face to face in your office at sell4less rather than involving SF?

It seems that you are both sharing an internet connection.

We take a very dim view of people advertising their companies in this way. Some would call it deceitful. We just call it a good way to have your accounts banned.

oh dear you two!! naughty naughty!

must be tough setting up a business tho. i have real major issues with estate agents - (very long story) as i know so many people do. you always end up paying a fortune for a less than average service, but once its done its too late then.

a specific charge is a really good idea - why should it be a percentage of what you sell for? i've had a look at a lot of on-line property websites but always find them too difficult to navigate around (i'm not that good with them to be fair!) had a look at sell4less - most impressed with it!!!

better not say anymore or i'll get in trouble too :D
