Has anyone else experienced a trapped nerve? How did it happen and how long did it last? I currently have a numbness in my hands and pain down both sides of the arm. Am hoping it'll get better soon!!!

Sometimes it's associated with back tension, so try having a course of massages. If it doesn't work, it won't kill you ;)

Seriously, an osteopath may be your best bet, but I'm not an expert :(

I have a trapped syatic ? (sorry i have no idea of the spelling) nerve in my lower back... sends numbness and pain down one or both legs. Apparently it needs surgery to correct, but I found physio a great help. thats allways a route to go down if the problem persists

I got a trapped nerve in my side just under my ribs from working in one of my jobs lifting heavy stuff.
It lasted for about 6 months, but I can still get pain there even now, and this happened about 3 years ago, hope yours doesnt last as long as mine has!

Have a trappedc sciatic nerve affecting right leg.

Treatments here :

http://www.spine-health.com/topics/cd/d_sciatica/sc01.html

Personally I relieve pressure by keeping one foot on floor and whilst standing, raise other leg upwards, keeping parallel to the other. Get nice crunching sound as liquid forced out :P

Going up and down kerbs usually makes things worse 4 me :(

My nerve is trapped in the neck C7. But I'm not sure the cause.
I'm worried it may be a bulging disc. I am suposed to be going away on an expedition in 2 months!!
Haven't been to the GP yet. I've had a few physiotherapy appointments. I can't believe its serious if I just woke up with it, but the numbness in my fingers causes me concern you know?

How long did it take you to get an MRI scan?

3 months waiting list on the N.H.S at the moment, but I had to go through the G.P the Physio and a referal to a specialist before the scan, and that took three or four months. I often get tingling /numbness in my leg from the trapped nerve, mine too is suspected to be a bulging disk

I was in terrible pain through a trapped nerve.

I was recommended to see a chiropractor.

Michael Cohen on Graham Road and he was magic.

Although he wasn't cheap I was cured and that was worth every penny I spent

I do not know his number but he is in the book.

Had my problem since accident whilst on a bike vs a car as a kid. The doctor took an x-ray, told me it was sciatica and to live with it with anti-inflammatories if need be. Stayed clear of them and glad I did as it seems some of them do more harm than good :(
