personally I find the rehoming templates quite difficult to read - especially when some sections are left with yes/no.

I don't know how hard it is to set templates up using the software on SF, but is it possible to put it into a table format, so that the responses are clear.

I'd also like to see reason for wanting to rehome and it would be good to have an option in the template for attaching a photograph - not everyone thinks about putting one on.

The whole concept ! :)

I think it was to stop people getting nasty replies on a thread or PM's asking questions about the pet. Many threads got removed as it got nasty and therefore the OP was lost.

its fascistic and sterile and lacks personality and warmth .

plus they can say whats what then close the thread just the same.

i have never seen a guppie wormed/de flead etc etc

ok its not so bad for large animals, even though its damn hard to read and bad on the eyes...

i had some snakes for sale, couldnt really say there were house trained or micro chipped! hehe

Obviously the template wasn't designed for fish or snakes :suspect: which is why no one ever asks people to fill them in for that unless you have seen otherwise??

The templates were recently re-written to be better adapted to more animals, we are aware that many people do not like the template but it is a case of making the best of a bad job if you like, before the template there was a lot of trouble in the pet group on the re-homing threads...this actually lost us quite a few of our members.

The template was given a lot of thought so as to include all of the questions that a potential adopter might need to know, if you look at most of the ads as they often appear they usually contain little information about the animal, isn't it easier to have pretty much the whole picture then decide whether to contact the op?

Group leaders are everyday people giving up in some cases a lot of their own time for free to improve the groups, constructive criticism is welcome and good for us all but complaint just for the sake of it isn't!

It's only 3 key presses to type "N/A". ;)

It's never going to please everyone but most forums that allow for pet rehoming to be advertised use a very similar approach with a template such as the one SF uses.

I now see why you posted sorry I didn't see that right away, a bit of confusion seems to be happening, it will be sorted.
People won't be asked to fill out the form for fish or reptiles in future unless a suitable template is available.

Moonbird, I don't think people are complaining for the sake of it, but offering suggestions to help improve the form to make it more user friendly.

its actually poss but to worm and chip reptiles, but its totally differant to cats/dogs etc.

i was told ages ago to fill out the temp for a snake, even though i included the most important stuff. so 90% of the stuff wasnt needed, not really the point.

the temp isnt easy to read, yes the info is fine, but if it could be made easier to the eye.

Yes I do realise that the template could be set out in a better format, but unfortunately I do not have the skills to do that and even though others have tried we have not been able to get it into a format that keeps the questions bold while allowing the answers to be seen clearly also.

As I said constructive criticism is welcome, and I would personally like the template to be better set out as well, so if anyone has any ideas on how to do so that would be a big help.

CoolJules, Apologies re the guppies - I've been away for a few days and was obviously too enthusiastic in my duties.

With regards reptiles, I am currently writing a template (I'll get it to you and CV for proof reading) but in the meantime I offer advice on what info to give when I am asked. The main thing I am concerned about is that people know what they're getting into.
