It does look a tad suspicious that all the money from parachute payments and player sales does not seem to have been invested in the club. Maybe Beattie's transfer money has gone on a new housing project in Budapest?

Or in the Ferencvaros academy - in a country that hasn't had a decent international side (or player for that matter) for over 40 years.

on one hand i cant understand why blades fans are criticising mccabe, he has made your finances secure, improved the ground etc BUT you look at the money you have had into the club through the season in the prem, player sales etc, the only thing you see him investing in is clubs abroad that you havent had any players off yet and not likely to for a few years. the team isnt getting any investment by looks of it, whether thats down to kb not finding any decent players to invest in or mccabe telling him he cant have anything for transfer fees so make do with loans, freebies etc and kb being a yes man to everything

All McCabes investments were made before the credit crunch. Do you think anyone in their right mind would seriously invest in a football club in Chengdu in 2009! Same goes for the development at the Lane and the Ferencvaros Academy. White elephants all. And with the parachute payments ending this season and the Tevez money about as likely to be forthcoming as an apology from a banker its pretty clear that the Blades might just have to get used to a few more afternoons like yesterday. Your chairmans a business man not a football man. Thats not always a bad thing, but when that business is property , well....

McCabe's knowledge of football seems to have been gleaned from a Roy of the Rovers annual circa 1960.

ie - former England captains make top class managers.
Hungary beat us 6-3 at Wembley in 1953 therefore all Hungarian footballers are the next Puskas.

He's probably going to open an academy in Melchester next - scouts hunting for players named Roy Race, Blackie Gray and Buster Edwards.

Brilliant.

But when haven't they played the long ball game since they sold Tony Currie?

Wolves have also invested in Upjest Dosza from what a doghead mate of mine said to me the other week. We may not be the only ones.

Funnily enough, I was having this sort of conversation with fellow Blades in the not too distant past. I'll tell you. A few strange months when Spackman carried on from Kendall, and even with Kendall, we played directly down the channels.

Very few sides played 'passing' football when I started to know about the game (first match January 78, three years old: started to understand the pain, 80/81).

Good grief!

Haven't heard Upsy Daisy mentioned since they played L**ds in the Inter Cities Fairs Cup back about 64/65.

Wolves chairman must be a fan of Charles Buchan football annual.

Sheffield united would still be in the doldrums without that man- stop wingeing for gods sake- he has dragged this club kicking and screaming into the modern age and delivered an amazing stadium with a bright future ahead of us.

10 years ago we would have killed to have players like killa, speed, beattie etc etc even talk to this club- and now you guys are complaining and saying he should leave because we loose 2 games against our city rivals- get real.

Some people do have short memories don't they.

(btw- the other clubs all around the world take no money away from SUFC and any investment is put in by mccabe himself- which he is totally entitled to do-or do you think he should sink his ENTIRE fortune in united?)
