View Full Version : Battlefield 2 - PC Gaming ANGELUS 21-06-2005, 14:12 Anyone got this fantastic game yet? I've got the demo and have to say- Game of the Year already!! Please discuss. RJ45 21-06-2005, 15:30 On the strength of your recommendation I'll download the multiplayer demo right now. gremlin_mick 22-06-2005, 14:50 Not bad, not bad. My PC struggles a little to run it on a decent spec, but the multiplayer games are full of bunny hopping gits, leaping around chucking grenades. No teamwork, no tactics, just jumping around playing the rambo  Americas Army is much better... ANGELUS 22-06-2005, 15:39 It would be nice to have a proper multiplayer SheffieldForum game on Battlefield 2- we'll have to sort a game out between us! What say you all? venger 22-06-2005, 15:48 Might be tempted :D ANGELUS 22-06-2005, 23:25 Multiplayer works fab on the demo version that Im using at the minute.. I just need to get the hang of the bloody aircraft... ye gods!! They just go too fast for little old me to control. If anyone is up for a game, we will have to have a meet up in one of the online-rooms in there and have a ball. ANGELUS 23-06-2005, 18:29 WARNING: I have just got the full version of this game from the shops and.. a: You need a very decent spec machine to play it and also b: Unless you have the patience of a saint, dont even bother with the single-player mode. It will **** you right off in no time at all... RANT ON The game is ridiculously hard even on easy mode, people will shoot and kill you from nowhere at all and even shooting a tank at point blank range with an anti-tank missle will not destroy the tank straight away like in real life, oh no, in this game it takes 3 hits. Before it finds out where you are, and kills you. The aircraft I find impossible to master properly also. So all in all - I am taking the full version back to the shops, unless you are extremely good at FPS games... dont bother. Its just too damn difficult.. multiplayer is fun though. venger 24-06-2005, 09:20  So don't buy it then  :hihi: soupy 24-06-2005, 21:08 Ive got the demo been playing it for a while now, also ordered the retail version should get it on tuesday cant wait, if you like squad based action then this is the game for you. A gaming community I belong to already have a server running retail version was running demo until tonight come join the fun server Ip is 212.159.6.220 Viper_GTSR 25-06-2005, 10:04 If you're looking for a good FPS game, I would recommend Half Life 2. It has some of the best reviews ever given to an FPS game, and it is very addictive! Half Life 2 Reviews (http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=RM00327&title=half_life_2_-_dvd_rom) Scroll down to read the reviews! :D ANGELUS 25-06-2005, 11:43 Originally posted by venger  So don't buy it then  :hihi: I did buy it- thats the point I made. It just gets irritating after about 30mins.. Thats why it went back to the shops. waggy 25-06-2005, 22:58 what i found anoying about the demo was you cant rebind some keys. For example i use delete and end to move left and right in all games(yeah im weird), but it wont let me. Looked it up on the net and some keys appear to be hard bound to the map or somthing. It does have some lovley graphics though :) JamesRich 27-06-2005, 17:01 Good game. I really enjoy it. Are there any other online multiplayer games that you can download off the internet? waggy 30-06-2005, 00:48 Have you tried enemy teritory? Its a free ww2 fps, really easy to get into as well. http://www.splashdamage.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=viewsdownload&sid=1 Bedhead 30-06-2005, 14:46 i'm afraid i can't stop playing World of warcraft i've had trackmania and san andreas boxed and ready to play for a few weeks now - can't tear myself away form WOW though! ANGELUS 30-06-2005, 20:32 I've got Matrix Online now... Im not too sure whether I will playing it for months on end though. Especially at £8 a month. Its kind of OK at the beginning but its starting to get a little boring now and the missions all seem too samey for my liking. venger 01-07-2005, 07:13 Originally posted by JamesRich Good game. (http://www.americasarmy.com/downloads/) ANGELUS 01-07-2005, 08:41 Is anyone up for a bit of SF online gaming then? It would be nice to have a game with you all on Battlefield 2 or something else. JamesRich 01-07-2005, 09:10 Originally posted by ANGELUS Is anyone up for a bit of SF online gaming then? It would be nice to have a game with you all on Battlefield 2 or something else. I'd be up for that. Is there anyway of making a game exclusive to SF members? ANGELUS 01-07-2005, 09:12 I'll look into it now.. just a private room for all us Forumers to play in, so we dont have any problems with idiots and the like. EDIT: Just wondering, what would happen say if I used my PC as a server and just allowed forumers to play using an IP address I specified to them- would my PC be able to handle it? Its a P4- and would it affect my bandwith or anything. And how do I go about setting it all up?? Anyone help please? venger 01-07-2005, 09:24 Originally posted by JamesRich I'd be up for that. Is there anyway of making a game exclusive to SF members? Sure, run your own server and password it, pm J-Blaze if you want to know how. ANGELUS 01-07-2005, 09:28 I think it would be a great idea for a SF server to play games on privately. If I can sort out a PC to do it.. then I'd be quite happy to host online gaming. waggy 01-07-2005, 21:58 That would be cool :) How fast is your upload? bigkev 01-07-2005, 22:40 battlefield 2 what a load of s**t I played it on my pc and mine is a top spec one and it stilled struggled to play. like what everybody else as said if you get to one on the posts in know time at all you are killed by the bombs what come straight out of the air. also if you try to take out there command control center you need a bloody good tank to do as the grenades dont touch it. I played it for two days and took it back to the shop all this hype about how good it is when it wont make game of the year, there is other games that are coming out that will take top spot and one of them is call of duty 2 you want to have a look at the demo for that game 500% better than the first game of call of duty. then you have got commandos strike force which is FPS, battlestations midway, brothers in arms earned in blood, company of heroes and from now until christmas there is 14 new war games to come out for the pc thats if they run on time. baza1 01-07-2005, 22:41 I love playing online games , just bought battlefield 2 ,just wondering how old other players are. bigkev 04-07-2005, 09:51 A reply to baza1. so you want to know how old some players are well baza1 I am 51 years old so does that answer your question what was you thinking that I was 14 years old I have been playing war games for over 15 years and when I play a game like battlefield 2 and it is crap then I say it is crap. I wish I had not spent good money on a s**t game like this. Phanerothyme 04-07-2005, 10:04 Originally posted by JamesRich Good game. I really enjoy it. Are there any other online multiplayer games that you can download off the internet? Aces High is free for two weeks for arena play ($14 a month after) and free in perpetuity using their online HTH servers or your own lan - peer to peer scenarios. It's a hefty WWII combat flightsim with more realism than most people will like though. The planes and the controls are simple, but flying is a lot closer to the real thing (as you can get on a computer), like a hardcore flightsim. Manifold Pressure, Air pressure, Shell trajectories are all modelled. No 'hit bubbles' either - you need to place shells exactly on the airframe of another hapless loser to bring them down in flames. Good in game vox system (Sounds just like the real thing!), lots of active squads, quite a few Sheffield players, even flew with one once. I don't play as much anymore because it eats time. Need to have games I can play in short, satisfying bursts. Counter Strike:Source (not free sadly) is good looking, pretty gamey (fun), and anyone can run a server given a linux box and a connection (or so I have been told) baza1 04-07-2005, 22:46 I,ve had a aquarius, spectrum, commodore, amiga then a pc been playing games 23 years since i was 13. I think battlefield 2 is worth buying. Also enjoy playing half life 2 and doom 3 ANGELUS 06-07-2005, 22:49 Originally posted by bigkev battlefield 2 what a load of s**t I played it on my pc and mine is a top spec one and it stilled struggled to play. like what everybody else as said if you get to one on the posts in know time at all you are killed by the bombs what come straight out of the air. also if you try to take out there command control center you need a bloody good tank to do as the grenades dont touch it. Bigfella- you might have a point here you know. My PC is top spec as well and it lags to hell at the minute, hopefully it will get better when a performance patch comes along eh! The bombs are a pain in the arse as far as Im concerned.. you cant tell when they are coming or where they are going to land. Its a nightmare and very frustrating. The grenades and overall weapons are cack as well.. the antitank gun in particular.. 2 or 3 good shots to stop a tank?? I dont think so.. one shot should do the trick. ANGELUS 06-07-2005, 22:51 Originally posted by ANGELUS I've got Matrix Online now... Im not too sure whether I will playing it for months on end though. Especially at £8 a month. Its kind of OK at the beginning but its starting to get a little boring now and the missions all seem too samey for my liking. AN Update: Matrix Online has now gone back to Big W as it was poo. The game was very samey all the way through the different missions and I dont feel as though paying £8 justifies what is a crap game overall. I havent spoken to one person while in 'the matrix' also- and people dont give a crap about you as well. Avoid like the plague please bigkev 07-07-2005, 09:01 for all you battlefield 2 players there is a new patch just come out, I have just been sent a email to tell me it is out, whats the point of me using it when I bought the game on friday and took it back on the saturday as it is the worse game to come out, all you people going on about it you wouldnt know a good game if it hit you between the eyes. I know that it wont be the game of the year as I have seen the call of duty 2 demo and this will be the game of the year. all battlefield games are s**t even if you have got a top spec pc it will still struggle to play it. |
