This looks like a likely candidate for the OWEN family in 1891:

1891 Census
(piece 3796 folio 134 page 37)
111 Greaves St
(Nether Hallam)

Charles E. OWEN Head Marr 41 silversmith STS Cannock
Hannah OWEN Wife Marr 42 STS Cannock
Charles E OWEN Son 16 silversmith WAR Leamington
Harry OWEN Son 15 silversmith WAR Leamington
Mary OWEN Dau 12 scholar WAR Leamington
Willie OWEN 10 scholar WAR Leamington

Charles (senior) died in 1899.
Here is the family in the 1901 census:

1901 Census
(piece 4343 folio page 32)
54 Channing St
(Nether Hallam; Owlerton)

Hannah OWEN Head Wid 52 STS 'Womburn'[?]
Charles E OWEN Son Unm 26 spoon & fork filer WAR Birmingham
Harry OWEN Son Unm 28 metal spinner WAR Birmingham
Mary E OWEN Dau Unm 22 WAR Birmingham
William OWEN Son Unm 20 cabinet maker WAR Birmingham

The parents Charles & Hannah, and the sons Charles and Harry are buried in Walkley Cemetery. Harry married Harriet HEMMING - so it is quite likely they had a daughter called Harriet. Charles junr is buried in the same grave as his parents.

If you think this is the right family I can give you more information from the cemetery records.

Do you know when William and Nellie died and where they are buried?

Hugh

I posted a bit about your dads family on the crookes site.
The address at crosspool was 2 Ryegate rd..So someone could check that in a directory for you, I'm out of the country so can't help sorry.
I think the house was owned by Jessies mom, so check for Owen there.

If Jessie owned the shop from 73, it would be a good bet that, that's when Nellie died.
I remember her death but have no Idea where she was burried.
Williams family were very involved with The Ebenezer church on South Rd.
I remember your mum opening Blooming Wonderful. I also remember your mum and dad getting married, but I'd left home by then so it was just my mums gossip.
Good luck with your search. I hope you are in contact with your half brother its so easy to loose touch and regret it later.

The 39 kelly's has
Henry J Capp Gardener 70 Riverdale rd.
All his neighbours were company directors, J.P.s and the like.
Looking Capp up in the alphabetical instead of Riverdale Rd. We find he was the Gardener to the convent of Notre Dame.
I don't know whether Henry would have been Roman Catholic, to have worked there.
The 1960 Kelly's doesn't have a Capp. He would have been at Ryegate Rd. where the householder was Nellie Owen so he wouldn't have been mentioned.
I forgot to say 1939 Kelly's shows Wm Owen Warehouseman at Ryegate Rd.and 210 Northfield Rd It also shows Owen W & Co. at 61 (not 6) Norfolk St .Tel. No. Sheffield 24706 which was a factory site called Rodger's wheel, the other tenants were mainly cutlers and other manufacturers.
The 39 also has 2 listings at 210 Northfield Rd Owen Mrs Nellie Draper and Owen William

He would have more than likely been in Lodge moor Hospital as it was an isolation Hospital.
If you ask Maureen or Christine which school he went to I'll try and get onto their old boys site and see if they have anything.
Do you think he went to Birkdale rather than a state school

There was an Edwin Fox in our class at the Central Technical School 1952-55.

He will be about 70years old now.

If he is of your family interest he shouldn't be hard to find through the Old boy's association or on the posting about the School on this forum.

Hope this helps, Good Luck PopT

I've heard of Oakwood School, I think some of my class mates at King Teds had been there but I've no Idea where it was. Some of the old Kelly's have Oakwood collegiate school at Norwood, but nothing at Fulwood.
Help please someone.

Hi Tooeg

Norwood private school was on Norwood Road about halfway on on the left hand side going towards Barensley Road from Herries Road.

The school was below the road level and you could miss irt travelling along Norwood Road in a car.

I believe the school only took pupils up to a certain age as there was an ex pupil from there in my class at the Central Technical School.

Hope this helps. PopT
