View Full Version : Has the ban on using mobiles while driving stopped you? MuteWitness 21-06-2005, 10:29 Theres so many people still using mobiles and not hands free kits, is the ban to hard to police as ive never heard of anyone getting an on the spot fine. Cyclone 21-06-2005, 10:37 people have been fined for it, it's made the news a few times when the law was first enforced. It doesn't make the news anymore as it's not that interesting. It is rather hard to police though, patrol cars aren't difficult to spot. And when it's dark it's impossible to see into another car whilst it's moving. spiffymonkey 21-06-2005, 10:39 Technically, it hasn't stopped me because I didn't drive while on the phone before... how should I answer :) hatter 21-06-2005, 10:40 Originally posted by spiffymonkey Technically, it hasn't stopped me because I didn't drive while on the phone before... how should I answer :) Same here MuteWitness 21-06-2005, 10:45 maybe a nice mod can add that option! Tony 21-06-2005, 10:49 Mod: Extra option added. I've had an on the spot fine :( It was a bit stupid because I have a fully fitted car phone that I always use and I just picked the hand held mobile up to say "call me on the other phone". A total of 4 seconds maybe? Unfortunately, I did it whilst passing the garage entrance of West Bar Police Station. DOH! :shakes: Bloomdido 21-06-2005, 10:57 A friend got done for looking up a number whilst in a queue of traffic. She didn't notice the police motorbike behind her! To make it worse, she opted to go to court instead of paying the fixed penalty, changed her mind and pleaded guilty by post only for the fine to nearly triple. I know of people who have paid less for physically assaulting people. |
