does anyone know a not drug method of getting rid of headaches? i have a nasty one and dont want to take drugs every time i get one, any alternatives?

thanks sadboy ill try a bit of skullcap, i also have some knitting needles in a box in the loft but i dont fancy trying acupuncture

You can try having a shower and running the water as hot as you can bear, then as cold, running it over your head. Depending on the cause fo your headache this can help. Some headaches are due to constriction of blood vessels - most often those associated with Migraine I believe - and the changing temperature can encourage them to relax and allow greater blood flow.

Lavender oil on the temples can be beneficial.

Probably a bit late now but as someone else said, sex is always as good cure.
Another remedy is to put a blod of Vicks vapour rub on each temple and lay in a quiet room, the menthol eases the pain.(really it does work)

Thumbs dont casue headache but there is pressure point there that has been known to help relieve them.

If you stretch out your hand its the dip where the thumb joins the hand....massage that for a while and see if it eases...:thumbsup:

other than that I have, in the past, tried 4head (menthol headrub), and those cool and soothe things both for headache and migraine..and I have to say - what tosh they are...doesnt work.

I suffer from bad migraines and the only thing that works for me is Migraleve, and co-codamol...

Saw your left foot off. The pain will be so intense you'll totally forget about any headache you may have had.

Not really a drug per say, but there's a product called 4Head that's herbal I believe. I use it all the time, it's applied directly to your head and it usually works.

Isn't White Tiger Balm supposed to be good for headaches?

Tiger Balm - red or white (the red is stronger and is the only one that works for me) can help. Those cooling patches you can buy from Boots etc seem to work on my daughter. I tried one on her for the first time tonight. They do have a mentholly smell about them so maybe they work in the same way as Tiger Balm.
